Richard Branson appears briefly in the 2006 Casino Royale at airport security: he passes through a metal detector and sets off its alarm. The scene is a quick celebrity appearance, not a named role. Here are nine more Bond-film appearances worth watching for, spanning returning actors, filmmakers and other recognizable figures—not a verified ranking of the nine most overlooked.

Where Richard Branson appears in Casino Royale

Look for Branson in the airport-security sequence in the 2006 Daniel Craig film. The James Bond 007 Museum Nybro identifies him as “Man at Airport Security” and describes him passing through a metal detector. The film’s story follows Bond on his first mission against a banker seeking to fund terrorist activity with casino-tournament winnings, according to the Festival de Cannes catalog.

The museum account says Branson helped the Prague production by providing a plane, then asked director Martin Campbell for a small part. It relays producer Barbara Broccoli’s description of the scene: “He was very supportive of us and he helped us out when we needed a plane in Prague. “He said, ‘Can I just do a little cameo’ and Martin said, ‘Come to the airport and we’ll stick you in the little security thing and you can set the bells off.’ “He had a lot of fun and he was a trooper and it was a long night. He and his son were in the scene and they were great.” This is Broccoli’s quotation as reproduced by the museum page, not a direct interview transcript.

The same page reports that British Airways edited Branson and Virgin Atlantic branding out of its onboard screenings. That is a platform-specific account; it does not establish that the scene is absent from other versions.

Nine other Bond appearances to look for

“Cameo” can mean different things here: a celebrity playing a version of themselves, a brief appearance by someone from the production team, or an actor returning after an earlier Bond film. The examples below are drawn from cameo indexes, including a fan-compiled list, rather than a measured ranking of what audiences miss most. Roles and scene descriptions are attributed to the indexes; not every brief role is necessarily a cameo in the narrow sense.

Returning performers

  • Tsai Chin — Casino Royale (2006): Listed as Madame Wu. She had previously played Ling in You Only Live Twice, making this a return to Bond rather than a first appearance in the series.
  • Diane Hartford — Casino Royale (2006): Listed as Card Player #3; the museum page also notes her earlier appearance in Thunderball.
  • Maud Adams — A View to a Kill (1985): Listed as a woman on a streetcar. Her appearance is especially easy to overlook if you know her from her more prominent Bond roles.

People from the production

  • Michael G. Wilson — Casino Royale (2006): The cameo index lists the producer as the Chief of Police.
  • Martin Campbell — Casino Royale (2006): The director is listed as the tanker-truck driver killed by Carlos at Miami airport.
  • Phil Meheux — Casino Royale (2006): The cinematographer is listed as a Treasury official in the M’s-office scene.

Other recognizable faces

  • Alessandra Ambrosio — Casino Royale (2006): Listed as Tennis Girl 1 at the Ocean Club.
  • Madonna — Die Another Day (2002): Listed as Verity.
  • Minnie Driver — GoldenEye (1995): Listed as Irina.

How to interpret this cameo list

The James Bond 007 Museum Nybro’s Casino Royale page and Universal Exports’ cameo index are useful pointers to names and roles, but they do not establish an objective “most missed” order. The nine above are selected from the documented candidates, with a consistent broad definition that includes celebrity appearances, production-team members and returning performers. The original 1967 film and the 1954 television adaptation are separate works; Branson’s appearance is in the 2006 EON production starring Daniel Craig.
