Since winning American Idol Season 23 in May 2025, Jamal Roberts has continued making and promoting music, performing live, and staying connected to his family and Meridian, Mississippi. In April 2026, he said he had bought a home in Mississippi. The latest career update covered here is dated June 17, 2026, so tour and release details may have changed since then.
What is Jamal Roberts doing after American Idol?
Roberts has been building on his televised win through new music and live performances. By June 2026, he was promoting songs and touring, while his official website presented an album titled The Journey and linked to streaming services and tour information. His official website is the best place to check for current artist updates.
His music and Grammy-nominated collaboration
Post-show releases cited in February 2026 coverage included “Heal,” “Still” with Jonathan McReynolds, “Nothing Compares,” and “Head Up.” Roberts and McReynolds received a Grammy nomination for “Still”; the reports describe a nomination, not a win. TV Insider’s February 2026 update covered those releases and his post-show life.
In a January 2026 interview, Roberts said, “I’m versatile, so I plan to release music within every genre if I can.” In a June 17, 2026 report, he was promoting “Perfect for Me” and announced a June 19 release of “Girl Dad.” That announcement is a dated plan, not confirmation here of the song’s current availability. The June report also described his performances that month.

Touring while staying connected to home
Roberts returned to work as a physical education teacher in Meridian after his win. In a January 2026 interview, he said he still stopped by his former school when he was home. He also described fitting family visits around performances: “If I’m not singing or performing, my management knows to have a flight right away to go home.” TV Insider’s interview includes his comments about touring, music, family, and his former school.
He is a father of three daughters and has spoken about making time for them despite a busy performance schedule. In April 2026, Roberts told the official American Idol podcast, “I just bought a house.” He described it as “on three acres of land, a four-bedroom, two-bath [house],” and said he was turning his former home into an Airbnb. Those details were reported by TV Insider on April 13, 2026.

What to know about current tour and release information
The latest update in the sources reviewed here, published June 17, 2026, described Roberts as touring that month and having additional summer shows. Tour dates change, and that report does not establish his schedule now. Check his official site for the latest listings rather than relying on an older announcement. His path since the show has involved music and touring alongside continuing ties to Meridian, his former school, and his family.
