Graham Hornigold is still working in pastry, while his former business, Longboys, closed in September 2025. Graham and Heather Kaniuk are no longer together, and reporting places Heather and their son in New Zealand while Graham remains in the United Kingdom. Dionne Marie Hanna, meanwhile, became the subject of an active criminal prosecution in Singapore after the release of Netflix’s Con Mum.

Hanna was arrested on March 28, 2025. She was initially charged with five counts of fraud by false representation; by April 24, 2026, Singapore reporting said that 34 more charges had been added, bringing the total to 39. The case involved 14 alleged victims and more than S$800,000 in alleged losses. These remain allegations: no conviction or sentence had been located in the reporting reviewed for this article.

The legal and personal-status information below reflects the latest reporting located for this article, through August 12, 2026. Court proceedings and professional circumstances can change.

Where Graham, Heather and Dionne are now

Person Latest documented position What is not established
Graham Hornigold Still associated with professional pastry work. A 2026 National Young Chef of the Year brochure lists him as a director of Smart Patisserie. His exact current work schedule, residence and financial position have not been fully documented. He has said he remains in debt.
Heather Kaniuk A New Zealand pastry chef and consultant who, according to post-documentary reporting, lives in New Zealand with the couple’s son. There is no evidence in the reviewed reporting that she and Graham have reconciled. Her exact current professional schedule is not clear.
Dionne Marie Hanna Reportedly in Singapore custody or remand in connection with a case that had expanded to 39 fraud-by-false-representation charges. No reliable later report located a plea, trial result, conviction, sentence or definitive current custody arrangement.

What Con Mum says happened

Graham Hornigold was born in 1974 on a British Army base in Germany. He was fostered for approximately two years from the age of two and was later raised in Hertfordshire by his father and stepmother. He had never known his biological mother.

In 2020, a woman identifying herself as Dionne contacted Graham by email. She supplied details about his birth that convinced him she could be his mother. The eventual DNA result presented in the documentary reportedly showed a 99.9% probability that Dionne was, in fact, Graham’s biological mother.

That result is one of the story’s most important complications. Graham was not simply persuaded by a stranger pretending to be related to him. According to the documentary, Dionne really was his mother. The allegation is that she used that genuine biological relationship as part of a wider pattern of manipulation and financial demands.

Dionne presented herself as a wealthy international businesswoman. She claimed to have fruit farms and plantation interests, connections to Brunei’s royal family and access to a substantial inheritance. She also said that she was terminally ill.

Graham and Heather became involved in expensive hotels, cars and travel, as well as proposed Swiss banking and inheritance arrangements. Graham ultimately said he was left with approximately £300,000 in liabilities, including car payments, hotel costs and living expenses.

The relationship began to unravel when Heather and other people around Graham questioned Dionne’s claims. Graham found evidence that appeared inconsistent with Dionne’s reported terminal illness, including red food colouring that was allegedly being used to simulate blood. Heather also found records and information that appeared to point to previous deception-related offending and the use of multiple identities.

The film presents accounts from Graham, Heather, friends and other alleged victims. Dionne did not participate in the documentary and did not respond to Netflix’s requests for comment, so her account is not represented directly in the film.

Is Dionne really Graham’s mother?

According to the DNA evidence reported in Con Mum, yes. The documentary described the result as establishing a 99.9% certainty that Dionne was Graham’s biological mother.

That finding answers the question of their biological relationship, but it does not establish whether Dionne owned the businesses, plantations or wealth she described. Nor does it by itself prove every allegation made by Graham, Heather or other people featured in the film. The documentary’s central tension is that a real mother-and-son relationship existed alongside allegations of serious deception.

Where is Graham Hornigold now?

He remains in the pastry industry

Graham has continued to identify professionally as a pastry chef and consultant. The strongest recent professional evidence located is a 2026 National Young Chef of the Year brochure listing him as a director of Smart Patisserie.

That is a more reliable indicator of his current professional direction than older biographies, which continue to describe previous television appearances, hotel work and the development of Longboys. It supports the conclusion that Graham has rebuilt a working life in pastry, but it does not show that he has fully recovered financially from the events described in the documentary.

What happened to Longboys?

Longboys, the elongated gourmet doughnut company Graham founded with Heather in 2019, was reported closed in September 2025. The reported reason was spiralling costs.

This date matters because the company’s older website remains online and may still list London locations or describe the brand in the present tense. An archived or outdated business website is not proof that Longboys shops are still operating. The closure report should take precedence over those older pages.

Rank #3

Graham and Heather’s family situation

Graham and Heather are no longer a couple. Post-documentary reporting says that Heather and their son live in New Zealand, while Graham remains in the United Kingdom. Graham has said that he video-chats with his son and intends to visit when possible.

The available reporting does not establish a current custody order, visitation schedule or exact residential address. It is therefore inaccurate to claim that the family has reunited, that Graham has regular in-person contact or that the parents have reconciled.

Graham’s finances and mental health

Graham has described the aftermath as psychologically devastating. He has spoken about experiencing suicidal feelings after losing his relationship, money and sense of stability, and said that he sought professional help and worked through the effects.

Those are Graham’s public accounts of his experience, not a clinical diagnosis. They should also not be confused with a claim that his financial problems are over. He has said that he remains in debt, although the reporting reviewed does not establish a current exact figure.

If the documentary’s themes bring up an immediate risk of self-harm for you or someone close to you, contact local emergency services or a crisis service in your country now. A true-crime story should not be treated as a substitute for professional support.

Where is Heather Kaniuk now?

Heather is a New Zealand pastry chef and consultant. Earlier professional biographies associate her with senior pastry roles at Shangri-La at The Shard, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park and the Hakkasan group, as well as with Smart Patisserie and Longboys.

More recent reporting places Heather in New Zealand with the couple’s son. Her older professional biographies remain useful for understanding her career, but they should be dated: the Longboys references do not mean that the doughnut company is still trading after its reported September 2025 closure.

There is no reliable evidence in the reviewed material that Heather and Graham have resumed their relationship. The public record supports a separation and a cross-country family arrangement, not a reconciliation.

Where is Dionne now?

The Singapore case

Dionne Marie Hanna was arrested in Singapore on March 28, 2025, shortly after Con Mum was released on March 25. Reporting said viewers recognized her from the documentary and contacted authorities.

On April 5, 2025, she was charged with five counts of fraud by false representation involving three alleged victims. On April 24, 2026, Singapore reporting said that 34 further charges had been filed. That brought the reported total to 39 charges involving 14 alleged victims and more than S$800,000 in alleged losses.

The allegations included claims that Hanna was a wealthy descendant of Bruneian royalty, was terminally ill, would provide inheritances or luxury gifts, and needed money for fees, expenses, donations or investments. The reported Singapore allegations resemble several of the representations examined in the documentary, but the charges do not automatically prove every claim made in the film or establish the complete source of Hanna’s money.

Has Dionne been convicted?

Not according to the latest reliable reporting located for this article. The April 2026 report said that Hanna was represented by lawyers from Pro Bono SG and had not indicated a plea in that report. A pre-trial conference was scheduled for May 2026.

No reliable source located in the research established whether that conference took place, whether Hanna entered a plea, whether a trial date was set, or whether she was convicted or sentenced by August 12, 2026. The legally accurate description is that she faces 39 charges or that prosecutors allege 39 offences—not that she has been found guilty.

Hanna was reported to be in Singapore custody or remand in connection with the case, but her definitive current custodial status, any bail outcome and her precise location outside the court process were not established.

What remains unknown about the story

  • The source of Dionne’s claimed wealth: The documentary does not establish whether she genuinely owned the farms, plantations or other assets she described. Graham told The Guardian that people could speculate about the source of her money but did not know the full answer.
  • The truth of every claimed royal connection: The alleged links to Brunei’s royal family remain unverified in the material reviewed.
  • The full legal outcome: The Singapore prosecution had expanded substantially, but the later procedural outcome was not located.
  • Dionne’s health: Her present health and the truth of her claimed terminal illness were not established.
  • Graham’s precise current circumstances: His professional role and public statements about debt and family contact are documented, but his exact home, work schedule and financial recovery are not.

It is also important not to overstate the United Kingdom aspect of the story. Graham and Heather said police characterized the financial events as a bad business decision because Graham knew where the money was going. That describes the victims’ understanding of the police response; it is not a definitive court ruling that no offence occurred in the UK.
