If you mean Troubled Blood, the installment commonly labeled C.B. Strike Season 5, there is no confirmed U.S. Max release date in the available official information. A U.S. availability listing checked on July 26, 2026, showed it through YouTube TV or for purchase on Apple TV—not as part of a Max subscription. If you mean The Ink Black Heart, however, it is already on Max: it premiered in the United States on January 23, 2025.
Why “Season 5” is confusing
The series may appear as Strike, C.B. Strike or C.B.STRIKE, depending on the market and platform. Its season labels are also inconsistent. The BBC and production materials generally organize the show by Strike story, while some U.S. databases group or number episodes differently.

That means “Season 5” does not always identify the same title. The safest way to find the missing installment is to search by story name.

The Cinemax series page uses C.B. Strike, while HBO’s announcement for The Ink Black Heart calls it the sixth story, not Season 5.

Which story is C.B. Strike Season 5?
In the common story-based order, Season 5 refers to Troubled Blood. The mystery follows private detective Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott as they investigate the disappearance of Margot Bamborough, who vanished in 1974.
The JustWatch U.S. listing identifies its Season 5 page as Troubled Blood. This is the most likely title a U.S. viewer means when asking when Season 5 will arrive on HBO Max.
Is Troubled Blood on Max now?
Not according to the latest U.S. catalog result located. The JustWatch check dated July 26, 2026, listed Strike – Season 5 through YouTube TV and as a purchase on Apple TV. It did not list the season as included with Max.
That is a third-party catalog signal, not a permanent rights announcement from Warner Bros. Discovery. Streaming availability can change, so it would be inaccurate to say that Troubled Blood will never come to Max. At present, though, no official U.S. Max premiere date has been confirmed in the available information.

Buying a season on Apple TV is also different from streaming it with a Max subscription. Before paying for a new service, check whether the listing says the episodes are included, available through live television, or sold separately.

Could Season 5 mean The Ink Black Heart?
Some platform or database numbering may cause viewers to use “Season 5” for The Ink Black Heart. HBO’s official release material identifies it as the sixth Strike story.
For U.S. viewers, C.B.STRIKE: The Ink Black Heart premiered on HBO and Max on January 23, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. HBO described the production as a four-episode story. If this is the installment you are looking for, it is not awaiting a future Max premiere; search for The Ink Black Heart on the service.
See HBO’s official announcement or its official trailer for the confirmed U.S. date.

The next genuinely new Strike story is The Running Grave, adapted from the seventh Cormoran Strike novel. Production sources describe it as a five-part story with 60-minute episodes, starring Tom Burke as Cormoran Strike and Holliday Grainger as Robin Ellacott.
The Running Grave has been announced for BBC transmission in 2026. That establishes a U.K. broadcast plan, not a U.S. Max release. No confirmed U.S. Max premiere date was located. Do not treat an eventual BBC date—or an estimate reported elsewhere—as confirmation that the season will arrive on Max at the same time.

- Do not assume that a U.K. BBC or iPlayer release automatically makes the title available on U.S. Max.
Where can you watch it if Max does not have it?
The latest U.S. listing located showed two alternatives for the commonly labeled Season 5:
- YouTube TV: listed as a streaming option. It is a live-TV service, so it may be more than you need for one completed story.
- Apple TV: listed as a digital purchase option. Purchasing episodes or a season is not the same as receiving them through a Max subscription.
Availability and purchase terms can differ by country and can change over time. Check the U.S. listing before subscribing or buying. Max remains the relevant service for HBO’s confirmed The Ink Black Heart release, but subscribing solely for Troubled Blood makes sense only after confirming that the season is included.
Update: Checked August 18, 2026. Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed the U.S. Max date for The Ink Black Heart, but no confirmed U.S. Max date was located for the installment commonly labeled Season 5, Troubled Blood.
