Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft debuted on Netflix on October 10, 2024. That date was the first season’s premiere—not an upcoming October 10 release. Netflix now lists two seasons, and the U.S. release date for Season 2 was December 11, 2025.
What happened on October 10?
Netflix’s first-season launch listing gives the U.S. premiere as October 10, 2024, at 7:00 a.m. GMT. Netflix Tudum also identifies October 10 as the day the series began streaming. The date is historical: it does not announce a new season for October 10, 2026.
Netflix’s current catalog page lists two seasons and a TV-14 rating. Catalog availability can vary by country. Check Netflix’s title page for your region.

How does the animated series connect to the games?
The story follows the events of the Survivor trilogy: Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Netflix frames the show as a new chapter for Lara after those games, rather than a retelling of their plots. The series’ official synopsis says Lara returns to Croft Manor after a powerful Chinese artifact is stolen, then pursues the thief across the world and into forgotten tombs.
You do not need to have played the games to understand the premise. Knowing the trilogy provides context for where this chapter falls in Lara’s story, but Netflix’s description introduces the show through its own setup.

Who voices Lara Croft?
Hayley Atwell voices Lara Croft. Netflix’s Media Center also identifies Allen Maldonado as Zip and Earl Baylon as Jonah. Netflix’s viewing page names Hayley Atwell, Richard Armitage, and Tricia Helfer among the starring cast.
What did the creators say about the story’s Chinese mythology?
Writer and executive producer Tasha Huo told Netflix Tudum that, being half Chinese, she wanted to write “an adventure taking place within Chinese mythology” that she would have wanted to see as a girl. This describes Huo’s creative motivation; it should not be taken as a claim that the series is a documentary or a historically exact account of Chinese mythology.

How large is the Tomb Raider franchise?
Netflix’s 2024 launch listing cited franchise-level figures, not audience measurements for the animated series: a May 2022 survey found that more than 160 million people worldwide loved the franchise, and the listing reported more than 95 million game copies sold since the first game launched in 1996. Netflix did not give a separate reporting year for the cumulative sales figure.
