Did Sam Elliott reveal the start date?
No. Sam Elliott is listed among the returning cast as T.L., but the October 1 production announcement came from Paramount+. The current reports cited here do not establish that Elliott announced the filming date. TVLine’s report also identifies Paramount+ as the source of the production news.
Why was an August start reported earlier?
In May 2026, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that Billy Bob Thornton expected filming to start at the end of August. TVLine later noted that Thornton had mentioned an August start before filming dates were finalized. That was an earlier projection, not confirmation of the eventual first filming day. Paramount+’s October announcement is the newer confirmation that production had commenced by then. The Star-Telegram’s May report gives the historical estimate.
