Arcane has ended as a story, but Riot has not announced its next show or film. What it has confirmed is an organizational change: television and film work now runs through two dedicated studios, one for animation and one for live action, each with a named lead. Riot has also said it wants to tell more stories set in Runeterra, the world of League of Legends. Beyond that, the official announcements covered here do not name a project, a setting, a release date, or a distribution partner.
The most recent official material referenced in this article is dated October 2025. Developments after that date are not reflected, so check the sources listed below before relying on any point.
Arcane’s story is finished, but the setting is not
Netflix identifies season two as the final season of Arcane. In its November 26, 2024 guide to the series, Netflix quoted co-creator Christian Linke saying the story wraps with that season, and adding that Arcane is only the beginning:
“But ARCANE is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra.”

Read those two points together. The end of Arcane closes one narrative. It is not an announcement that Riot has stopped building stories in the setting, and it is not a confirmation that a third season is in production. No third season has been announced in the official sources reviewed.
Riot’s studio structure
In an August 15, 2024 company announcement, Riot said its TV and film development would run through two distinct studios. Riot CEO Dylan Jadeja framed the move around the wider business, saying:

- Factory sealed DVD
“We want every moment a player spends with us to be worth it – and that’s best achieved when we authentically blend our games, esports, music and storytelling into really cohesive, immersive adventures for them.”
The two studios divide the work by format:
| Item | Animation studio | Live-action studio |
|---|---|---|
| Lead | Christian Linke | Brian Wright |
| Stated remit (Riot, August 15, 2024) | Building on Arcane, working with Fortiche Production | Developing a slate of potential projects based on Riot’s existing lore and narrative |
| Named next project | Not stated in the official announcements reviewed | Not stated in the official announcements reviewed |
| Setting or characters | Not stated | Not stated |
| Release date | Not stated | Not stated |
| Distribution partner or platform | Not stated | Not stated |
The animation remit is the more concrete of the two because it names an existing production partner and an existing show. The live-action remit is broader: it describes the kind of material Riot wants to develop, not a specific production.

What the “slate of potential projects” does and does not mean
Riot’s wording confirms development activity at a general level. It does not establish that any particular show has been greenlit, and it does not reveal where a project is set, which characters it follows, or when it might appear. It also does not identify a buyer or platform.
Fan speculation about regions, character focus, or the number of projects in development is not supported by the official announcements. Treat those as speculation unless Riot or Netflix confirms them directly.

Fan engagement after the series
On October 6, 2025, Riot announced an online Arcane anniversary program. It included behind-the-scenes episodes, AMA sessions, merchandise restocks, and new merchandise from Riot and partner companies. The announced episode dates were November 10, 17, and 24, 2025. Those dates have passed.
The program shows continued engagement with the existing audience. It does not show that a new narrative production is underway.

Recognition and streaming
Arcane’s awards record is useful background on why Riot is investing in the franchise, though it does not show that anything new is scheduled. The series won four Primetime Emmy Awards in 2022, including Outstanding Animated Program, and nine Annie Awards in 2022, according to Netflix’s 2022 reporting.
Netflix’s November 26, 2024 guide says both Arcane seasons were streaming at that time. Regional availability changes, so check whether the series is available in your country before planning to watch.
How to check for news after October 2025
- Look for new announcements in Riot’s own newsroom, which is where the August 2024 studio announcement and the October 2025 anniversary program were published.
- Check Netflix’s Arcane title page and Netflix Tudum for any confirmed new productions and for regional availability.
- Treat a project as confirmed only when it has a title, a studio, and an official statement from Riot or Netflix. A “slate” or “potential project” is not a confirmed release.
- Be cautious of reports that name a setting, character, or release window without an official source.
Until Riot names a specific project, the most accurate answer to “what’s next” is that the studios exist, the leads are named, and the stated goal is more Runeterra stories. The timing, format, and platform of those stories have not been announced.
