Former t.A.T.u. singer Yulia Volkova has publicly described past cancer diagnoses, including thyroid cancer diagnosed in 2012. Reports of her interviews do not establish that she has active cancer now, so the headline “Yulia Volkova Has Cancer” should not be read as confirmation of a current diagnosis.
What Volkova has said about her cancer history
PeopleTalk’s August 2020 summary of Volkova’s interview with Premier reported that she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2012. It also said she described a later recurrence and reported that an examination in October 2019 showed she was healthy. These are accounts of what she said about her past, not evidence of her health today. PeopleTalk’s 2020 report.

In September 2025 coverage of Volya’s Show, Volkova was reported as describing two oncological illnesses. The English-language account published by t.A.T.u. Media also attributes to her the statement, “One of my vocal cords is paralyzed.” t.A.T.u. Media’s translated coverage.
A separate Russian entertainment report from September 2025 likewise attributed to her a history of two oncological illnesses and vocal-cord paralysis. It corroborates the interview coverage, but is not an independent medical source. StarHit’s report.

What is known about her health now
The available interview reports do not establish whether Volkova currently has cancer. Her reported account of an examination in October 2019 is historical, and the 2025 coverage describes illnesses she experienced rather than confirming an active diagnosis. Her reported vocal-cord paralysis, by itself, does not show that cancer is current or explain its cause.
What the vocal-cord statement does—and does not—tell us
The translated t.A.T.u. Media account says Volkova described one vocal cord as paralyzed and also reported that she sings live and records songs. That is an interview excerpt, not a medical record. It provides no basis for inferring a diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment.

How to read the headline
The present-tense wording “has cancer” goes beyond what these reports confirm. The supported account is narrower: Volkova has publicly described past cancer diagnoses, including thyroid cancer in 2012, and 2025 interview coverage reported her account of two oncological illnesses. Her current cancer status is not established by those reports.
