The bright, gem-covered watch appeared on his wrist as he made his Super Bowl debut as a Fox Sports commentator alongside Kevin Burkhardt. Contemporary reports, citing information from Jacob & Co., put its retail or list price at $740,000.
That figure needs context: it is a reported retail price, not a verified resale value, auction result, or confirmed amount Brady paid. The watch’s brand and model are clear, but public reporting does not definitively establish the exact case reference, whether it measured 44mm or 47mm, or whether Brady owned, borrowed, or received the piece.
The short answer: a Yellow Sapphire Caviar Tourbillon
The watch seen on Brady was identified as the Jacob & Co. Caviar Tourbillon, Yellow Sapphires. It is a high-jewelry mechanical watch whose case and dial are covered in intensely colored yellow sapphires, giving it the almost solid-yellow appearance that stood out on television.
Brady was not simply attending the game as a spectator. Fox Sports had recruited him as part of its broadcast team for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, and the former quarterback was making his debut in that role at the February 9 game. The watch’s saturated color contrasted with his gray suit, white shirt, and dark tie, making it unusually conspicuous whenever cameras showed the Fox commentary booth. Fox Sports announced Brady’s broadcast role, while GQ documented the watch’s visibility and viral reaction.

Viewers and social-media users began trying to identify the piece during the broadcast. Early coverage included an unverified estimate of $600,000, but later reporting attributed the $740,000 figure to a Jacob & Co. spokesperson. That makes $740,000 the strongest reported figure for the story, although it should still be described as a brand-attributed retail or list price rather than an independently established market valuation.
Why is it called Caviar?
The name refers to the watch’s visual concept. Jacob & Co. arranged tightly packed stones across the exterior to create a dense, continuous surface reminiscent of the smooth, jeweled appearance of a caviar tin.
The setting technique is central to the design. According to the brand’s description, baguette-cut stones were used because their straight edges can sit closely together with far fewer visible gaps than brilliant-cut stones. The stones are set using Jacob & Co.’s invisible-setting technique, which minimizes the appearance of metal prongs and allows the yellow sapphire surface to dominate the watch.
Underneath that jewelry work is a serious mechanical complication rather than a quartz display. The watch has an automatic Jacob & Co. JCAA43 movement and a one-minute flying tourbillon, visible through an opening in the dial. The tourbillon rotates its regulating assembly and is traditionally intended to reduce positional timing effects associated with gravity. It is also one of the watch’s main visual attractions; a tourbillon should not automatically be treated as a guarantee of superior everyday accuracy.

Why does the watch cost $740,000?
The price reflects the entire object, not simply the market value of the yellow sapphires. Several elements combine to produce the reported retail figure:
- High-jewelry setting: Covering a case, dial, crown, clasp, and parts of the movement with closely fitted stones is labor-intensive. Invisible setting requires careful cutting, matching, and positioning.
- A complicated automatic movement: The JCAA43 includes a flying tourbillon and is assembled as a mechanical high-end movement rather than a basic timekeeping mechanism.
- Precious-metal construction: The relevant Yellow Sapphires specifications identify an 18K rose-gold case. The sapphires make the watch look yellow, but that does not mean the case itself is yellow gold.
- Large, specialized construction: The reported 44mm and 47mm cases are substantial, and the design requires the gem setting, movement, case, and sapphire crystal to work together.
- Limited production: Jacob & Co. describes the model as limited to 18 pieces. That is a verifiable scarcity claim, although it does not prove that every piece in the edition has exactly the same specification.
- Brand positioning and exclusivity: Jacob & Co. sells the Caviar Tourbillon as a high-jewelry statement watch. Design, handwork, exclusivity, and luxury-brand pricing are all part of the retail figure.
The $740,000 price therefore should not be interpreted as a simple calculation based on the raw stone content. It is the reported list price of a limited luxury object combining gemstone work, precious metal, a tourbillon movement, and the brand’s positioning.
Why do reports disagree about the gem count?
The number of stones is the most frequently oversimplified part of the story. Event coverage commonly described Brady’s visible exterior as containing 371 yellow sapphires: 224 on the case, 130 on the dial, and 17 on the crown, consisting of 16 baguette-cut stones and one rose-cut stone. That breakdown was reported by GQ and repeated in other coverage.

Jacob & Co.’s broader Caviar Tourbillon marketing description uses the figure 424 gems. Other technical listings for some 47mm Yellow Sapphires references describe as many as 710 yellow sapphires when additional stones on the movement and clasp are included. Some sources instead identify 338 brilliant-cut diamonds on the movement, while another syndicated report described 337 sapphires.
Those figures should not be added together. They appear to reflect different references and different counting methods: some sources count only the case, dial, and crown; others include the clasp or gem-set movement; and some listings describe a different gemstone configuration. The safest description is that Brady wore the Yellow Sapphires version of the Caviar Tourbillon, with contemporary coverage commonly citing 371 yellow sapphires on the visible exterior, while Jacob & Co. and other technical listings use broader or reference-specific totals.

This is why stating simply that the watch had exactly 424 gems, without explaining the discrepancy, creates a misleading impression of precision.
Was it a 44mm or 47mm watch?
Public coverage does not settle the case diameter. Forbes, GQ, and Esquire described Brady’s watch as 47mm. Jacob & Co.’s Japanese technical page identifies a 44mm Yellow Sapphires II version, and a syndicated USA Today report also used 44mm while giving a different technical specification.
Jacob & Co. currently lists both 44mm and 47mm Caviar Tourbillon families. Because the public material reviewed for this article does not provide a reference number definitively tied to Brady’s photographed watch, the precise measurement should remain qualified. The model and colorway are well supported; the exact case reference is not.
In other words, the responsible description is approximately 44mm to 47mm, depending on which Yellow Sapphires reference Brady wore, rather than an unqualified claim that the watch was definitely one size.
Is the case yellow gold or rose gold?
The watch looks almost entirely yellow on camera, so some reports loosely called it a yellow-gold watch. Jacob & Co.’s technical listings for the Yellow Sapphires versions identify the case as 18K rose gold. The yellow appearance comes primarily from the sapphires covering the surface.

- 1/5 Second Chronograph Measures up to 60 Minutes, 12/24 Hour Time, Date

- Spherical Mineral Crystal

That distinction matters because gemstone color and case material are separate specifications. Calling it a yellow-gold watch describes its visual impression, but it is not the most technically accurate description of the case.
Did Tom Brady own the watch?
There is no reliable public evidence establishing that Brady owned or purchased the specific watch he wore. The available record confirms that the watch was on his wrist; it does not confirm whether it was his personal property, a loan, a stylist-supplied piece, or a watch provided through another arrangement.
Fortune reported that Jacob & Co. supplied information and photographs used in coverage, while representatives for Brady did not immediately respond to the publication’s request for comment. That demonstrates brand involvement in the publicity around the watch, but it does not by itself establish ownership.
There is also no reliable source reviewed here confirming a paid sponsorship, formal product-placement agreement, or loan. The watch was publicly celebrated by the brand, but a brand relationship should not be inferred to have specific contractual terms without evidence.

Luxury watches are often photographed closely, but Brady’s piece was especially difficult to miss. Its large case and bright yellow sapphire surface formed a sharp visual contrast with his otherwise restrained gray-suit outfit. The watch was also seen during one of the most heavily watched television events in the United States, with Brady appearing regularly as part of the Fox broadcast team.

That combination turned a specialist watch story into a broader celebrity-fashion moment. Some viewers admired the rarity and technical spectacle; others considered the design excessive or unattractive. Online reaction was divided rather than unanimous, as contemporary reaction coverage reflected.
The appearance also made the watch more recognizable, but there is no verified evidence that Brady’s broadcast appearance increased its resale value. No auction result, secondary-market transaction, or current valuation for his specific photographed piece has been established in the public sources reviewed here.
Was this part of a wider Jacob & Co. connection?
There is evidence that Brady wore another notable Jacob & Co. watch later. In July 2025, GQ reported that he wore a custom $650,000 Twin Turbo Furious at the E1 Monaco Grand Prix. That later appearance places the Super Bowl watch within a broader pattern of Brady being seen in Jacob & Co. pieces.
It still does not establish whether the watches were owned, loaned, gifted, or connected to a formal endorsement. The later appearance is useful context, not proof of the terms of any relationship.

What the $740,000 headline actually proves
The strongest fact-checked formulation has three parts:
- What: Jacob & Co.’s Caviar Tourbillon in the Yellow Sapphires design.
- When: Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on February 9, 2025, during Brady’s Fox Sports commentary debut.
- Price: A reported retail or list price of $740,000, with the figure attributed to information supplied by Jacob & Co.
It does not prove that Brady paid $740,000, that he owned the watch, that its current market value is $740,000, or that every technical number repeated online belongs to the exact same reference. The 44mm-versus-47mm size, 42-hour-versus-72-hour power reserve, and 371-versus-424-versus-710 gem counts are genuine documentation conflicts that should be explained rather than hidden.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Tom Brady wore Jacob & Co.’s Yellow Sapphire Caviar Tourbillon at Super Bowl LIX. The widely reported $740,000 figure is substantially supported as a February 2025 brand-attributed retail price, not a verified resale value or confirmed purchase price. The unresolved details are the exact reference, case diameter, gemstone-counting convention, and whether Brady owned or borrowed the watch.
