Guinness World Records said on 2 February 2021 that Ariana Grande had earned her 20th title: the most songs to debut at No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Its account credited five songs—“thank u, next,” “7 rings,” “Stuck with U,” “Rain on Me” and “Positions”—with that debut. The figure is a 2021 snapshot, not a current inventory of all her records.
What was Ariana Grande’s 20th Guinness World Record?
It was the record for the most songs to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. In its 2 February 2021 announcement, Guinness World Records identified “Positions” as Grande’s fifth qualifying song and said the achievement was her 20th Guinness title.

The chart is the US Billboard Hot 100. The five-song tally and 20-title milestone describe what Guinness reported at that date; they should not be read as a present-day count of Grande’s records.
Which five songs debuted at No. 1?

| Song | Debut date cited by Guinness |
|---|---|
| “thank u, next” | 17 November 2018 |
| “7 rings” | 2 February 2019 |
| “Stuck with U” (with Justin Bieber) | 23 May 2020 |
| “Rain on Me” (with Lady Gaga) | 6 June 2020 |
| “Positions” | 7 November 2020 |
These dates are the ones listed in the Guinness announcement. The distinction is debuting at No. 1, rather than simply reaching the top spot later.
How did Grande’s other chart records fit the milestone?
Three songs in the Hot 100’s top three
On the Hot 100 dated 23 February 2019, “7 rings,” “Break up with Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” and “Thank U, Next” held positions one, two and three. Guinness called Grande the first solo artist to occupy the chart’s top three simultaneously. The record page notes that the Beatles had previously held all three positions as a group.

The 2021 article also highlighted achievements across streaming and social media, including Spotify records and records connected to Thank U, Next. Its listed figures are historical measurements, not interchangeable measures of popularity:
- Guinness reported 71,467,874 Spotify streams for “7 rings” in the week ending 24 January 2019, describing it as the most streamed track on Spotify in one week by a female artist.
- It reported more than 54 million Spotify followers as of 13 December 2020, for a female-artist follower record.
- The article gave 76,729,036 Spotify monthly listeners but did not provide a separate measurement date for that figure.
- It reported 21.6 billion streams across Grande’s Spotify tracks as of 13 December 2020.
- For Thank U, Next, Guinness reported 307 million US on-demand audio streams in the week after its 8 February 2019 release, and 93.8 million Billboard-chart streams in the week ending 6 December 2018.
A weekly stream total, monthly listeners, followers and cumulative streams have different definitions and time windows, so they cannot be combined into one ranking. Guinness’s record page for the Billboard streaming figure says “Thank U, Next” remained at the top of that female-artist ranking as of the chart dated 18 July 2026. That confirms the status of that particular category only.

Does Ariana Grande still have exactly 20 Guinness records?
Twenty is the title count Guinness reported in February 2021, not a verified current total. Record categories can change, and the available Guinness material does not establish the current status of every title in that count. Its 8 December 2021 recap independently reaffirmed the 20th-title milestone and summarized the chart achievement. As that retrospective put it, “Five singles from her 2020 album Positions went on to top the charts, setting a new record for the most songs to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.”
The 2021 achievements were also celebrated in the Guinness World Records 2021 book, as noted in Guinness’s announcement.
