What channel carried the Sugar Bowl?
ESPN carried Ole Miss vs. Georgia nationally in the United States. It was an ESPN broadcast, not an ABC broadcast. The network and the official CFP schedule both listed ESPN as the television destination.

Because the game aired on ESPN’s linear network, viewers needed either a television subscription that included ESPN or a qualifying direct-to-consumer ESPN plan. A basic ESPN+ or ESPN Select subscription was not automatically enough.
Already had cable, satellite or live TV?
The normal route was the ESPN app or Watch ESPN on ESPN.com:
- Open the ESPN app or ESPN.com and select the Ole Miss–Georgia game or the ESPN live network feed.
- Sign in with an ESPN account if prompted.
- Choose the cable, satellite or live-TV provider carrying your ESPN subscription.
- Enter the provider’s username and password—not simply the ESPN account password.
ESPN’s authentication instructions explain that live programming mirroring a subscriber’s television package requires provider verification. Account verification information was also available through ESPN Fan Support.
ESPN Unlimited
ESPN’s direct-to-consumer ESPN Unlimited plan was the relevant standalone option for viewers who wanted access to the ESPN network without a traditional pay-TV bundle. At its August 2025 launch, ESPN listed the plan at $29.99 per month and said it included ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNNEWS, ESPN Deportes, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPN+, ESPN on ABC and related ESPN services.

ESPN Select and ESPN+
In the 2025–26 product lineup, ESPN Select was the ESPN+ content tier; it did not include the full ESPN linear channel. Therefore, someone who had only ESPN Select—or an ESPN+ subscription under the earlier branding—could not assume that an ESPN-broadcast CFP game would be unlocked.
The practical choices for this game were an authenticated provider subscription that carried ESPN or ESPN Unlimited. ESPN’s ESPN versus ESPN Select comparison provides the service distinction.
Live-TV streaming services
Contemporaneous viewing guides identified services such as Sling Orange, Fubo, YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV as ways to receive ESPN. These services differ in price, channel lineup, regional availability, device support and promotional terms. Free trials, when offered, may be restricted to new or returning customers, require a payment method and renew automatically unless canceled.

Was the Sugar Bowl available on ESPN+?
Not through ESPN Select/ESPN+ alone. The game was carried by ESPN’s linear network. ESPN Select supplied ESPN+ programming, while ESPN Unlimited included the ESPN network. A viewer with a participating live-TV provider could also stream the ESPN broadcast after signing in through the ESPN app.
This is why a game page labeled ESPN+ could be misleading: an ESPN+ content subscription and access to the ESPN television channel were separate entitlements in the 2025–26 service structure.

Why the 2026 Sugar Bowl mattered
Ole Miss and Georgia met in a CFP quarterfinal, not a conventional non-playoff bowl. No. 3 Georgia earned a first-round bye as one of the CFP’s top-four seeds. No. 6 Ole Miss reached the Sugar Bowl after beating No. 11 Tulane 41–10 in the first round.
The game was also a rematch. Georgia had beaten Ole Miss 43–35 during the regular season on October 18, 2025. The Sugar Bowl winner advanced to the CFP semifinal at the Fiesta Bowl. Both teams entered the quarterfinal at 12–1.

Ole Miss rallied from a 21–12 halftime deficit and tied the game late. With six seconds remaining, Lucas Carneiro kicked a go-ahead 47-yard field goal. Georgia then attempted a series of laterals on the ensuing kickoff, which ended in a safety. Ole Miss advanced to the Fiesta Bowl semifinal.

Common streaming problems
“I have ESPN+ but the game is locked.”
That usually meant the account had ESPN Select/ESPN+ content but not access to ESPN’s linear network. The remedy was an authenticated provider subscription carrying ESPN or the applicable ESPN Unlimited plan—not another ESPN+ replay page.
“The ESPN app asks me to choose a provider.”
That was expected for a viewer using cable, satellite or a live-TV service. Choose the provider and enter its credentials. If the credentials failed, the subscription might not include ESPN, the provider might not support authentication, or the provider account might need troubleshooting.
“My provider carries ESPN, but the stream will not play.”
- Confirm that the subscription was active and included ESPN, not only ESPN+.
- Confirm that the provider was supported for ESPN authentication.
- Use the provider login rather than the ESPN account password.
- Update or restart the ESPN app.
- Select the ESPN network feed rather than an ESPN Select or ESPN+ replay page.
