Sophie Grégoire said it was normal for public events to affect her, but that choosing how to respond was her decision. In a November 2025 podcast interview, she spoke about the attention surrounding her former husband Justin Trudeau’s reported relationship with Katy Perry and described their family arrangement as separate personal lives and one family life.
What Sophie Grégoire said about the attention
Grégoire made the remarks on Arlene Dickinson’s Arlene Is Alone podcast, in an interview reported by Parade. She acknowledged that public news can affect people rather than suggesting she was untouched by it: “We’re human beings and stuff affects us. Normal.”
She said that people can experience feelings such as disappointment, anger and sadness, and framed their response as a choice. “How you react to stuff is your decision. So I choose to try to listen to the music instead of the noise,” she said, according to Parade’s account. The comments were a personal reflection, not clinical guidance.
What she said about co-parenting
Grégoire described her relationship with Trudeau as having “separate lives” but “one family life.” Parade and The New Daily presented the remark in the context of the former couple’s family and co-parenting. Parade reported that they were married for 18 years and have three children.

How the podcast interview fits the timeline
Parade reported that Grégoire appeared on Dickinson’s podcast on November 12, 2025, and published its account of her comments on November 16. The interview came after a separate October event: The New Daily, citing the Australian Associated Press (AAP), reported that Trudeau and Perry made a public appearance in Paris on October 25, 2025. That report records an appearance on that date; it does not establish their relationship status now.
There was also an earlier, separate social-media item. The Daily Beast reported that Grégoire posted an Instagram video about letting go on October 13, 2025, after photographs of Trudeau and Perry kissing on a yacht appeared. That post predates the podcast interview, and the reporting does not establish that it was a direct response to the photographs. It should not be conflated with her later podcast comments.
