Why the anniversary was 47 years
Elvis died on August 16, 1977, aged 42. His official music site lists his life dates as January 8, 1935, to August 16, 1977. The 47th anniversary therefore fell on August 16, 2024—not in 2026, when the 49th anniversary falls. Elvis Presley’s official music site
How the post differed from Elvis Week
Priscilla’s Instagram remembrance was a personal tribute. Graceland’s Elvis Week was a separate, organized public program marking the anniversary. Graceland announced a nine-day 2024 celebration, with the Candlelight Vigil on the evening of August 15 and a concert event on August 16. Graceland’s Elvis Week announcement
