From a 2015 objection to dramatized retellings to Nicole’s sisters’ 2024 documentary, relatives have kept attention on Nicole and Ron as people, not just figures in a famous case.

Nicole Brown Simpson’s and Ron Goldman’s relatives have spoken publicly for decades, but they have not spoken with one shared voice. Their comments show two related but distinct efforts: Nicole’s sisters have tried to restore the person behind the familiar images of her death, while Ron’s father and sister have described enduring grief and pursued civil accountability. The criminal case, the civil judgment, and later collection efforts are separate parts of that history.

2004: relatives from both families speak on the tenth anniversary

A June 19, 2004, CNN discussion marking ten years since the killings brought together Nicole’s sister Denise Brown and Ron’s father and sister, Fred and Kim Goldman. It is a documented occasion when relatives from both families spoke in the same forum, but the available transcript listing alone does not establish specific positions or quotations from each participant. 2015: three relatives object to a dramatized retelling

Tanya Brown, Fred Goldman, and Kim Goldman discussed American Crime Story on a Dr. Phil episode previewed by Paramount. The network’s announcement said the three were angry that the production had not consulted them and feared the dramatization would shift attention away from Nicole and Ron as the real victims. That reaction belongs to those named participants; it should not be treated as a position shared by every relative. Paramount’s announcement

Kim Goldman’s book on victims and public attention

Also in 2015, ABC15 described Kim Goldman’s book Media Circus, in which she interviews victims and families affected by several high-profile crimes. It offers a related perspective on what public attention can mean for victims’ relatives; the report does not establish the book’s current availability or edition. ABC15’s report

2017: Fred and Kim Goldman call the civil result an “empty” victory

In an anniversary interview, Fred and Kim Goldman described the civil judgment in Ron’s wrongful-death case as an “empty” victory. The phrase captures the limits of a legal outcome for a grieving family: civil liability did not restore Ron or provide emotional closure. The civil case was distinct from the criminal trial, which ended in Simpson’s acquittal. ABC News’s 2017 interview

2019: grief persists, and Kim criticizes the jury

At the 25th anniversary, Fred Goldman said the pain and loss remained. Kim Goldman separately described conversations with jurors that left her feeling they had not done their job. That is Kim’s assessment of those conversations, not an independent finding about juror conduct. ABC/GMA’s anniversary interview

2024: Nicole’s sisters put her life and personality back in view

Denise, Dominique, and Tanya Brown participated in the four-part Lifetime documentary The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson. Their effort was to make Nicole’s life and personality more visible than the images and circumstances most often associated with her death. The Los Angeles Times reported on the documentary.

Tanya Brown responds to archival footage

Tanya described the experience of seeing and hearing her sister in archival clips: “It’s seeing her move. It’s hearing her talk, seeing her.” The Associated Press reported her response as part of its coverage of the documentary. Associated Press coverage, May 31, 2024

Denise and Dominique describe different parts of Nicole’s legacy

Denise became a vocal advocate against domestic violence. Dominique described focusing on Nicole’s children after her death and staying close to them. The AP also reported Dominique’s continuing uncertainty about aspects of the case. These accounts reveal different relationships to Nicole’s memory; they should not be collapsed into one family position.

April 2024: Fred Goldman responds to Simpson’s death

After O.J. Simpson died, Fred Goldman told NBC News, in a statement carried by the Associated Press: “The only thing I have to say is it’s just further reminder of Ron being gone all these years. It’s no great loss to the world. It’s a further reminder of Ron being gone.” The emphasis was on Ron’s absence, not on treating Simpson’s death as an end to the family’s loss. The same AP report quoted family attorney David Cook saying collection efforts would continue. Associated Press coverage, April 11, 2024

What the civil judgment and later collection efforts mean

The criminal acquittal and the civil judgment are different legal outcomes: Simpson was acquitted in the criminal case, while a civil jury found him liable for the deaths. The Goldmans’ later efforts to collect on that judgment are another, separate matter. In November 2025, El País reported that Simpson’s estate had reached an agreement reserving nearly $58 million for Fred Goldman. That secondary report does not establish that the money was paid, a payment schedule, or the agreement’s final court status, so the figure should not be described as an amount received.
