ABC News reported that her statement opened: “Friends, I’ve always tried my best to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold.” She also said she was going through a divorce. Later that day, Evans shared his response confirming that they were parting ways, according to Entertainment Tonight and Us Weekly.

TIME reported that the divorce was finalized in November 2022. In February 2023, Ballerini released the EP Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, which later coverage described in connection with the dissolution of the marriage. These events came after Evans’s August statement; they are not part of what he said that day.
