A Marvel anniversary promo reportedly showed the Thunderbolts together and Red Hulk in a separate shot—but that does not establish that Red Hulk is part of the Thunderbolts film’s team or story. The Red Hulk footage was reported as material from Captain America: Brave New World.
What the 2024 promo reportedly showed
On August 23, 2024, BGR reported that Marvel released a short 85th-anniversary promotional clip featuring a Thunderbolts group shot and a separate Red Hulk appearance. BGR identified the Red Hulk footage as material from the extended Captain America: Brave New World clip shown to the D23 audience. These are BGR’s descriptions of the promo; Marvel’s official film page does not independently document the clip’s full edit or its reported deletion. BGR’s August 23, 2024 report.
Who Marvel names as the Thunderbolts
Marvel’s official film synopsis identifies Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker as the unconventional team. It describes them as ensnared in a death trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Red Hulk is not named as a member of that team in the synopsis. Marvel’s official film page.
Does the promo confirm a Red Hulk crossover?
No. Showing Red Hulk and the Thunderbolts in the same promotional clip is not confirmation that they share a scene, plot, or team. The account of the footage places Red Hulk in material associated with Captain America: Brave New World, while Marvel’s published Thunderbolts synopsis names the film’s team without Red Hulk. The available information therefore supports a distinction between footage included in a promo and characters confirmed in the film’s story.

Film title, release date, and credits
The 2024 promotion used the Thunderbolts* branding. Marvel’s page lists the film’s release date as May 2, 2025, advertises Blu-ray and digital availability, and currently displays “The New Avengers (2025)” in its page header. The current header label should not be confused with the historical title used for the promo.
Marvel lists Jake Schreier as director, Kevin Feige as producer, Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo for screenplay, and Eric Pearson for story. The listed cast includes Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer, Wendell Pierce, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. A comics collection is a different Thunderbolts story
Marvel’s Thunderbolts Red Omnibus is a hardcover collection of Thunderbolts (2012) #1–32 and Thunderbolts Annual (2013) #1. That comics run was led by General “Thunderbolt” Ross, also known as Red Hulk. It offers comics-history context, but its lineup and premise are distinct from the film’s team and do not establish the movie’s roster. Marvel’s Thunderbolts Red Omnibus page.
