A fully unlocked Twitch Partner can have up to 150 active channel-specific emote slots when standard and animated subscriber emotes, follower emotes, and Bits reward emotes are counted together. That is a combined total derived from Twitch’s separate slot limits—not a single universal cap Twitch states in one place. The often-quoted 60 refers to the Partner’s standard Tier 1 subscriber-emote progression.
How the 150-emote total is calculated
The total combines distinct slot pools. Standard and animated subscriber emotes use separate slots; follower and Bits reward emotes are separate categories too. The calculation for a fully unlocked Partner is:
- 60 standard Tier 1 subscriber emotes
- 5 standard Tier 2 subscriber emotes
- 5 standard Tier 3 subscriber emotes
- 60 animated Tier 1 subscriber emotes
- 5 animated Tier 2 subscriber emotes
- 5 animated Tier 3 subscriber emotes
- Up to 5 follower emotes
- Up to 5 Bits reward emotes, inferred from Twitch’s documented reward-tier structure
60 + 5 + 5 + 60 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 150. Twitch’s Partner overview describes up to 60 channel emotes through subscriber points; its separate slot documentation supplies the Tier 2, Tier 3, and animated categories. This is a documented-category calculation, not a promise that every Partner’s dashboard will show 150 available slots. The channel must qualify for and unlock the relevant slots, and the dashboard is the practical authority for an individual account.

Partner subscriber emotes: why the number 60 appears
Twitch unlocks standard subscriber-emote slots according to subscriber points. A Partner can progress to 60 standard Tier 1 slots; Twitch’s table lists thresholds including 65 points for slot 11, 300 for slot 20, 5,400 for slot 50, and more than 10,000 for slot 60. Subscriber points are not the same as raw subscriber count: Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 subscriptions contribute different point amounts. Check the current Twitch slot table and your dashboard for your account’s milestones.
Partners also have five standard Tier 2 slots and five standard Tier 3 slots. These sit alongside, rather than inside, the 60 Tier 1 slots. Animated subscriber emotes have another separate pool: up to 60 animated Tier 1 slots and five each for animated Tier 2 and Tier 3. Animated slots cannot be filled with static emotes. Affiliate limits are lower and depend on progression
An Affiliate should not use the Partner total as their own limit. Twitch’s slot table lists an Affiliate progression of up to 10 standard Tier 1 subscriber-emote slots, plus one Tier 2 and one Tier 3 slot. Affiliates start with five standard Tier 1 slots. Their animated progression starts at five slots and can reach 10. Eligible Affiliates can also have up to five follower emotes, while Bits reward slots depend on the channel reaching the relevant cheering tiers.
Because those categories unlock separately, there is no useful single Affiliate figure without specifying the channel’s subscriber-point progress and Bits milestones. Consult the slot table, follower-emote rules, and the dashboard rather than assuming the Partner maximum applies.

Follower emotes and Bits reward emotes are separate
Follower emotes
Twitch’s follower-emote feature allows eligible channels up to five such emotes. They are separate from subscriber emotes: non-subscribed followers can use them in that channel, while subscribers may use unlocked follower emotes outside it under Twitch’s documented rules. Creators can upload, reassign, rearrange, or remove them through the Creator Dashboard. See Twitch’s follower-emote page.
Bits reward emotes
Bits reward emotes unlock through viewer cheering milestones, beginning at 1,000 Bits. Twitch documents automatic unlocks for the first three slots at 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000 Bits; the documented reward tiers extend through 50,000 Bits, which implies up to five emote-reward slots when all applicable tiers are reached. Treat five as a maximum inferred from those tiers, not a separately stated universal total. These emotes can be used across Twitch once unlocked. Animated emotes cannot be used as Bits rewards; Twitch limits animated emotes to subscription benefits. See the Bits reward guide.

Why you may see 50, 60, 150, or a higher short-term number
- 50: Twitch’s older public Partner page still displays a legacy figure. The newer Help Center Partner overview says up to 60 standard channel emotes, so the old figure should not be treated as the current standard-slot maximum. Compare the legacy Partner page with the Help Center overview.
- 60: This is the Partner’s standard Tier 1 subscriber-emote progression, not the sum of all emote categories.
- 150: This can mean either the combined active-slot calculation in this article or, in another context, a fully unlocked Partner’s standard-emote Library capacity. Those are different measures.
- More than the permanent total: Eligible Partners and Affiliates may receive two temporary animated Tier 1 slots through Twitch Alerts. They last 60 days and the countdown resets when an eligible Alert triggers; if no Alert is used during that period, the bonus slots are removed. Twitch says they may take up to 48 hours to appear after an Alert. They are excluded from the 150 calculation. See Twitch’s Alerts FAQ.
Active slots are not the same as Library capacity
Active slots are assigned emotes viewers can access; Library capacity is how many designs can be kept in the channel’s emote Library. Twitch documents the standard-emote Library formula as two times the number of subscriber-emote slots plus 10. Its examples give a new Affiliate a standard Library capacity of 16 and a Partner with all standard subscriber-emote slots unlocked a standard Library capacity of 150. Partners also have a separate animated-emote Library capacity of 10, according to Twitch’s Bits and emote reward guide and Subscriber Emote Guide.
A saved design does not necessarily occupy an active slot or appear to viewers. Pending approval matters too: an uploaded or pending subscriber emote may not be visible until Twitch approves it. Do not read a Library-capacity number as a count of emotes currently usable in chat.

How to check and manage your channel’s emotes
- Open Creator Dashboard → Viewer Rewards → Emotes to see available slots and manage emotes.
- For Bits settings, open Creator Dashboard → Monetization → Bits & Cheering → Bits Tier Badges.
- Check whether a slot is unlocked and whether its emote is assigned and approved. Twitch’s instant emote upload is available to Partners in good standing and Affiliates who meet the applicable Emote Guidelines criteria; otherwise approval may be required. - For a subscriber emote upload, Twitch’s guide specifies one square image file, from 112 × 112 through 4096 × 4096 pixels, under 1 MB. Category-specific restrictions may differ; animated emotes, for example, are not eligible as Bits reward emotes.
Twitch announced broader access to monetization and community tools in 2026, including emote tools for eligible streamers. Access to a tool does not by itself mean every slot category or payout feature is available: Affiliate or Partner status remains relevant to particular capabilities. See Twitch’s announcement.
