The joke turns the familiar frustration of flat-pack assembly into a brief bit of character comedy.
What happens in the IKEA scene?
Blind Al is putting together IKEA furniture while Deadpool teases her from nearby. He asks, “How’s that Kullen coming along?” and the exchange also names Hurdal, Hemnes and Trysil. The archived copy of the film’s shooting script includes Deadpool’s line, “IKEA doesn’t assemble itself,” before the Kullen dresser collapses.

The scene belongs to the original Deadpool, released in 2016—not Deadpool 2. Chris Smith’s May 17, 2018 BGR article called the exchange one of the original film’s best moments, explicitly presenting that as his personal view: BGR’s account of the IKEA bit.
Why does the gag work?
The humor comes from the combination of an everyday chore and Deadpool’s relentless teasing. The furniture names give him material to riff on, while Blind Al is occupied with the practical work. The collapse supplies the physical punchline: after the talk about assembly, the dresser fails anyway. That reading follows the scene’s setup and payoff; it is not a claim about measured audience reactions.

What the script copy confirms—and what it does not
A copy labeled Deadpool Final Shooting Script and dated November 16, 2015 contains the assembly line, the Kullen and Hurdal exchange, and the stage direction in which the dresser collapses. It is an archived PDF hosted outside an official studio site, so it is best described as a script copy rather than treated as independently authenticated studio archival material: archived shooting-script copy.
Smith’s article dates to 2018. Its descriptions and retail prices reflect that publication period, not verified current IKEA catalog information; the scene’s model names should not be taken as confirmation that those products are still sold.
