The Creep Tapes is a fictional found-footage horror series that extends the Creep film franchise. Its six-episode first season follows videographers hired to document a secluded man, played by Mark Duplass, as their paid assignments reveal increasingly disturbing intentions. The format makes the camera part of the story—but the series is horror fiction, not a documentary or a formal lesson in the history of found footage.
What is The Creep Tapes about?
In each encounter, the premise begins with a filming job: a videographer is offered money to record the man’s life. The camera captures a one-on-one meeting that gradually becomes threatening. AMC/Shudder’s September 2024 series announcement describes the show as the next installment of the Creep franchise and establishes this paid-filming setup.

The series premiered in 2024 with six episodes. Its first season opened with two episodes on November 15, followed by weekly Friday releases through the December 13 finale, according to AMC/Shudder’s announcement.
Is The Creep Tapes found footage?
Yes. The series uses the fictional recording itself as its framing device: the camera is present because the character behind it has accepted a job to film the man. That gives the story a direct, restricted point of view, centered on the person filming and the person being filmed rather than on a broad ensemble or a large-scale disaster.

- The Creep Tapes - Season 2 [Blu-Ray]
That is a useful way to understand its relationship to found-footage horror, but “deconstructs” is an interpretation, not an official description of the series. The premise foregrounds the camera’s role in the encounter; the official materials do not establish that the show is a documentary, a genre-history project, or an explicit critique of found-footage conventions.
Who made the series?
Mark Duplass stars and co-wrote the series with Patrick Brice. Both are executive producers, and AMC says Brice directed all episodes. Duplass Brothers Productions and Shudder produced the series, according to the original announcement.

Duplass has described the original film’s beginnings in personal, small-scale terms: “A little over 10 years ago, Patrick Brice and I spent a week together in my cabin with a small digital camera.” The quotation concerns the making of the original Creep film, not a complete account of how the series was produced.
How many seasons are there, and when did they air?
AMC announced a second season in February 2025. Its schedule set the season-two premiere for November 14, 2025, and the finale for December 19, 2025, as recorded in the network’s November 2025 highlights.

AMC/Shudder announced a six-episode third season with two episodes scheduled to premiere September 15, 2026, followed by two episodes weekly through September 29. Those announced dates have passed as of October 8, 2026. The August 2026 announcement establishes the planned schedule, but not independent confirmation that every episode became available on those dates. Where can you watch The Creep Tapes?
AMC’s announcements name Shudder and AMC+ as viewing services for the series. Availability can vary by country and change over time, so search the live catalogue in your territory before subscribing. AMC’s general Shudder territory list includes the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand; that list does not guarantee that a specific title is currently available in each market. What do the show’s popularity claims mean?
AMC/Shudder called The Creep Tapes its “most watched Shudder show of all time” in a 2025 renewal release, but did not provide an audience count or measurement method. Treat that as the company’s promotional characterization, not an independently audited ranking. A 2026 announcement said season one was the “#2 trending title on AMC+” in its first week; that is a platform-trending claim, not a viewership total or evidence about the found-footage genre as a whole.
