AMC’s first-look trailer for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, announced January 10, 2024, reunited the franchise’s story with Rick Grimes and Michonne. Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira return in a series built around their separation, the possibility of finding one another again, and the fight to remain themselves in a world changed by the dead and the living.
What the first-look trailer announced
AMC introduced the video as the official first-look trailer and announced Lincoln and Gurira’s return as Rick and Michonne. The network originally set the series premiere for Sunday, February 25, 2024, on AMC and AMC+. That date is the show’s original premiere date, not a forthcoming release.
AMC’s January 10, 2024 announcement and AMC’s official first-look trailer identify the video and its central returning characters.
Why Rick and Michonne are at the center
AMC describes the series as a love story between two people shaped by a world that has changed. Rick and Michonne are separated by distance, a powerful force, and memories of who they used to be. Their challenge is not simply to survive: they must try to find each other and determine who they are now while facing threats from both the dead and the living.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
AMC frames the emotional question this way: “Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before?” It gives the trailer’s reunion imagery a clear dramatic context without making every shot a promise about the series’ full plot.
Keep the trailer dates straight
The January 10 video is the first-look trailer, but it was not the only trailer AMC promoted before the premiere. The network announced a second trailer on January 25, followed by another trailer announcement from AMC Global Media on February 14. These are separate promotional releases, so a clip, scene, or embed should be identified by its own date rather than treated as interchangeable footage.

What Andrew Lincoln said about Rick
In an Associated Press interview published February 21, 2024, Lincoln reflected on the character: “A hero is a man who does what he can.” This was Lincoln’s comment about Rick, not a line of dialogue from the trailer. Lincoln and Gurira are also executive producers on the series.
