Musi was an iPhone and iPad app for finding YouTube videos, playing them with music-focused controls, and organizing them into playlists. It did not provide a separate, licensed music catalog: playback depended on YouTube videos and an internet connection. As of August 18, 2026, Musi’s recovery page says the app is unavailable through the App Store. People who previously downloaded it may have a recovery option, but new users should not expect to install it normally.
What Musi did
Musi described itself as an organizational tool for YouTube videos, with features tailored toward music. In practice, a listener could search for a song, artist, or other video in the app, play a YouTube upload, then save it to a playlist or queue. Musi added music-oriented controls and playlist tools around that YouTube content; it was not a Spotify-style service with its own guaranteed catalog. Musi’s site explains its YouTube-based model.
That distinction matters. A search might turn up an official track, but it could also find a cover, remix, live recording, lyric video, podcast, or an unrelated upload. Metadata and sound quality depended on the specific video. If an uploader deleted a video, made it private, or restricted it by country or age, the corresponding item in a Musi playlist could stop working.
Musi was an iOS app, not an official YouTube or Google product. Its terms of use identify Musi Inc. as the service operator. The existence of a YouTube-based interface does not make it equivalent to YouTube Music, nor does it establish a blanket legal conclusion about every use of the app.

Features Musi documented
Musi’s site and help center document features including YouTube search, playlists, playlist sharing and importing, favorites, queue management, a 10-band equalizer, crossfade, playback-speed controls, lyrics or sing-along features, custom playlist artwork, and backup and transfer options. The help center also describes signing in to YouTube to try to play age-restricted tracks.
These are documented or historically advertised features, not a guarantee that every one still works in every surviving installation. Musi is no longer distributed through the normal App Store listing, and changes to iOS, YouTube, or the app’s service can affect playback and controls.

- Open Musi and go to the Playlists tab.
- Tap +, enter a playlist name, then tap Create.
- Open the new playlist and tap + to search for tracks or merge tracks from another playlist.
- Tap Save.
The playlist should then appear in the Playlists tab. The help center says tracks can be reordered through an Edit or pencil control; for a custom order, choose the custom sort mode and drag tracks by their handles. To remove a playlist, open its three-dot menu and choose Delete Playlist. Shared playlists may be read-only, so you may not be able to edit every playlist you can view.
Import a YouTube playlist
- Open the Playlists tab and tap +.
- Choose Import Playlist From YouTube.
- Paste the YouTube playlist URL and tap Next.
- Review the entries and confirm the import.
Importing playlist entries is not the same as transferring or downloading music files. Musi’s FAQ says it does not download or cache videos. An imported entry may still fail if its video has been deleted, made private, restricted by location or age, or otherwise become unavailable. If an import is incomplete, check that the original playlist is accessible in YouTube, try its canonical playlist URL, and replace unavailable entries manually. Musi cannot restore a video that no longer exists.
Is Musi still available in 2026?
Not as a normal App Store download, according to Musi’s official recovery page. That page says the app remains unavailable in the App Store and offers a recovery tool for people who downloaded Musi previously. The tool requires the Apple ID originally used to get the app and a Mac or Windows computer; it cannot be run directly on an iPhone or iPad. See Musi’s recovery page for the current process.

Existing users may still have Musi installed and working, but continued operation is not assured. Recovery can depend on the original Apple account and device circumstances. If Musi still opens on an old device, back up its library before replacing, resetting, or changing devices. The help center describes an in-app More → Backup, Recover, & Transfer flow that uses a backup code to move a library and playlists.

- Check whether Musi is still installed or has merely been offloaded before taking further steps.
- If using the official desktop recovery tool, use the original Apple ID and a Mac or Windows computer.
- If recovery fails, contact Musi support rather than using an unverified download site.
- Do not assume that an app or installer using the Musi name is the original. For example, the MusiMoon App Store listing says it is not affiliated with YouTube, Google, or content providers.
The official materials here describe Musi as an iOS app. The Mac and Windows downloads on the recovery page are recovery tools, not evidence of Mac or Windows versions of Musi’s music player. Do not treat third-party pages advertising an Android “Musi APK” as confirmation of an official Android release.
Internet, offline playback, and data use
Musi’s FAQ says an internet connection is required and that the app does not let users download or cache videos for offline listening. That makes Musi a poor fit for flights, commutes without reliable coverage, or anyone who needs dependable offline access.

The FAQ estimates cellular use at about 10–15 MB per track on average. That is an estimate, not a fixed rate: actual usage can vary with track length, video quality, buffering, advertisements, and network conditions. For long listening sessions, use Wi-Fi where possible and review Musi’s cellular access in iOS settings. If your data plan is limited, you can disable cellular access for the app. Audio-focused listening can still involve YouTube video content and its associated data use.

If a track stops playing, first check whether the same video opens in YouTube. It may have been removed, made private, or restricted; network conditions or changes to YouTube playback can also be involved. Try another available upload, switch between Wi-Fi and cellular, and restart Musi. A replacement upload may have different audio quality or metadata.
For an age-restricted track, Musi’s FAQ gives this route: open More, choose YouTube Login, sign in, then retry. A login may not overcome every restriction; YouTube can require age verification or other account checks, and some content is unavailable in certain countries. Only enter account credentials in the app you trust, and consider the privacy implications of connecting a YouTube account to a third-party interface.

Privacy and trust considerations
Musi’s privacy policy describes collection of information such as usage details, IP addresses, URLs, search queries, response times, download errors, crash logs, interaction information, advertising-related identifiers, and App Store purchase verification. The policy page says it was last modified on February 24, 2022. That older document is useful context, but it should not be treated as proof of the app’s current privacy practices or update status.
Before continuing to use an old installation, review the policy, iOS tracking permissions, cellular-data access, and any YouTube account connection. The app’s age and App Store unavailability also mean users should not assume it is receiving current security, compatibility, or service updates. Avoid unofficial clones and installers, particularly those that request account credentials or promise patched or premium access.
Who should use Musi—and what to use instead

YouTube Music is the closest first-party option for listeners whose priority is YouTube’s music ecosystem. Google’s help page documents playlist and device features. Spotify and Apple Music are more conventional licensed-catalog services; Spotify’s plans are listed at Spotify, and Apple Music’s at Apple. Check the providers for current prices and exact plan benefits in your country rather than relying on an old comparison.
Musi’s distinctive appeal was its playlist-first way of organizing YouTube uploads, including material that may not be found in a conventional catalog. Its trade-off was dependence on individual videos, an internet connection, and the continued operation of the app. In 2026, that trade-off is more significant because Musi is not a normal App Store download: it makes most sense as a legacy app for people who already have it and can preserve their library, not as a dependable new service recommendation.
