Captain Carter and her multiversal allies try to reach the imprisoned Watcher after the Eminence takes control of the Observational Plane. Their first attempts fail, the Eminence captures Carter, and Infinity Ultron agrees to help the rest of the team. The episode ends with the team preparing to enter the Observational Plane, so the Watcher is still a prisoner when the credits roll.
What happens in Episode 7
Disney’s official listing for the episode gives only the premise: the Watcher stands trial for his interventions. The fuller sequence of events below comes from episode recaps, which we have checked against that premise.
- The Eminence opens the episode. Over a black-and-white title sequence with no music, the Eminence narrates the consequences of the Watcher’s interventions from Carter’s timeline. Awards Radar identifies this as a changed version of the usual opening, and it sets the tone for the whole episode: the Watcher is no longer in control of the story.
- Carter’s team takes on a threat first. Captain Carter is joined by a grown-up Byrdie, Kahhori, and Storm. Their own timeline is threatened by an interdimensional creature. After they help Nebula, Groot, and Korg, shards from the Observational Plane appear, and the group realizes the Watcher is in danger.
- The team tries to get in. They use shard-powered technology to reach the Observational Plane, including a teleporter built from Kang’s Time Chair. Those attempts fail.
- They look for Infinity Ultron, and Carter goes alone. The team decides to seek an Infinity Ultron variant. Carter meets him by herself and is captured by the Eminence.
- The teammates confront Ultron, then ask for help. The rest of the team first confronts Ultron, then learns what happened to Carter and enlists his help.
- Ultron joins and the episode stops. Ultron absorbs the remaining shard to power the team’s attempt to enter the Observational Plane. The episode ends before the rescue is resolved.
Why Infinity Ultron helps
Ultron’s turn is the emotional center of the episode. He has already destroyed all life in his own universe, and recaps describe him as having come to understand that a lifeless universe is not peace. That realization is what turns him from an adversary the team must confront into an ally who is willing to spend his power on the rescue.
The episode frames this as redemption, and that reading is the recap authors’ interpretation of his dialogue and action. What the episode shows directly is narrower: Ultron joins the team and gives up the last shard. How far his change goes beyond this scene is a question for the finale.

What the ending does and does not resolve
Awards Radar describes the ending as a “to be continued” cliffhanger, and that is the right way to read it. The episode is structured as setup for the rescue, not its conclusion.
- Resolved: the team has a working plan, a volunteer power source in Ultron’s remaining shard, and a destination.
- Not resolved: the Watcher’s rescue. He is still imprisoned at the end of the episode.
- Not resolved: the Eminence’s control of the Observational Plane. The episode does not show the Eminence defeated.
- Not resolved: the team’s attempt to enter the Observational Plane. It is underway, not complete.
Disney’s season press kit describes Season 3 as the series’ culminating multiverse adventure, so the open threads point toward the season’s final stretch. The episode itself does not confirm how or when those threads are settled.

| Kang’s Time Sphere and Time Chair | Carter’s transport, and the Time Chair used in the teleporter attempt | Kang’s time-travel equipment, which the breakdown ties to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania | Plot-relevant continuity |
| Storm with Mjolnir | Storm’s debut as a Goddess of Thunder, with an X-Men ’97 musical cue | Storm’s hammer-wielding variant, which Sideshow also highlights | Visual callback |

| Guardians of the Multiverse photo | Carter looks at it during the episode | Her Season 1 team, including Party Thor, Gamora, Black Widow, and T’Challa’s Star-Lord | Visual callback |
| TVA reset charges | Among the team’s equipment | Possible future relevance, which is speculation in the breakdown | Tease, not confirmed |
The foosball table is a spot-the-reference moment
The foosball figures are there for viewers to find. They do not advance the plot, so treat them as set dressing for the multiverse theme rather than as evidence about what happens next.

The TVA reset charges are a tease
Reset charges appear among the team’s gear, and the breakdown suggests they could matter later. That is an inference about future payoff, not something the episode establishes.
The Eminence’s accusation is only partly defined
Disney’s listing gives the broad trial premise. The recaps identify the Eminence as the figure punishing or opposing the Watcher’s interventions. Anything broader about the Watchers’ rules or motives comes from the episode and its recaps, not from outside the series.
