Mason Ramsey first drew national attention in 2018 singing Hank Williams’ “Lovesick Blues” in an Illinois Walmart. He went on to release EPs, co-write his 2024 debut album, tour nationally, and put out further music listed in Apple Music’s 2026 U.S. catalog.
How Mason Ramsey went from a Walmart video to a music career
Before the viral moment
Ramsey sang in public from early childhood in southern Illinois. The Grand Ole Opry’s artist profile recounts his early performances at the Kentucky Opry and his interest in classic country and rock-and-roll.

The 2018 “Lovesick Blues” video
In 2018, a video of Ramsey singing Hank Williams’ “Lovesick Blues” at a Walmart in Harrisburg, Illinois, spread widely and brought him national attention. That performance was a cover, but it became the starting point for a career in commercial recording rather than the whole story of his music.
From early EPs to a debut album
Ramsey released the Famous EP and then Twang in 2018–19. GRAMMY.com notes that “Twang” later became the subject of a TikTok trend. In 2024, he released I’ll See You In My Dreams, his debut album: a 14-track record co-written by Ramsey. He supported the album with a national tour in 2025, according to the Stamford Advocate.

What Mason Ramsey’s music sounds like
GRAMMY.com describes I’ll See You In My Dreams as bluesy, old-school country informed by the sound of the 1960s. It also moves beyond a single style: “The Woman From Havana” leans into Tejano, “Lies, Lies, Lies” into jazz, “Joy” into gospel, and “Trouble Is” into rock and roll. The album offers a clear contrast with the Hank Williams cover that first made Ramsey known: it showcases original material co-written by the singer.
His voice has also changed since the high-yodeling child seen in the Walmart video. Rather than define his later work by that change alone, the album’s songwriting and varied arrangements give a fuller picture of his development.

What he has released since his debut
Apple Music’s United States catalog lists Outlaw in Love as a 2026 album and includes the singles “Faith” and “That Somebody.” These are music-service catalog listings, not confirmation of a physical edition. The listing documents music available in the catalog; it does not establish Ramsey’s current label or contract terms. See the Apple Music catalog for its current listing.
Where his career stands now
In a January 6, 2026 report, Country Now said Ramsey had written that his label dropped him and that he had parted ways with his agent and manager. The post was quoted as saying, “My label dropped me, my agency left me and I had to part ways with my manager.” Later 2026 interview coverage describes him rebuilding his team and working independently. The available reporting does not establish his present contract arrangements, so older biographies describing him as signed to particular labels should not be treated as current. For the January update, see Country Now.

Why the viral moment was only the beginning
Ramsey’s fame began with a memorable cover, but the subsequent record is more substantial: early EPs, a co-written debut album spanning several styles, national touring, and music catalog listings through 2026. In a GRAMMY.com interview published around his 2024 album, Ramsey called the preceding years “a whirlwind of a ride” and said he tries to “stay humble, stay grounded, and remember where you came from.” The trajectory since 2018—not just the Walmart clip—is what makes him a country artist in his own right.
