The January 21, 2025 Season 15 finale of The Real Housewives of New York City centered on a painful confrontation between Brynn Whitfield and Ubah Hassan during the cast’s Puerto Rico trip. The dispute turned on Ubah’s remark that Brynn may have slept with someone to get cast, and Brynn’s account that she had privately told Ubah about a past sexual assault. The two women later gave conflicting accounts of whether Ubah had heard that disclosure.
What happened in Puerto Rico?
The finale showed tensions from the cast trip coming to a head between Brynn and Ubah. Bravo’s January 21 report quoted reunion host Andy Cohen calling the finale “very dark” and “very surprising.” Brynn likened the conflict to the previous season’s Anguilla trip, saying, “I feel like everything is basically Anguilla 2.0.” She added that this time “the battle royale” was between her and Ubah, calling it “Hot Tub Time Machine From Hell.” Read Bravo’s finale report.
What was disputed between Brynn and Ubah?
Ubah said Brynn may have slept with someone to get a job on the show. Brynn said she had previously told Ubah in private that she had experienced a sexual assault. Brynn maintained that she had made the disclosure; Ubah said she did not know about it. The available accounts do not establish which recollection is correct, so the allegation and the disputed disclosure should be understood as each woman’s account, not independently verified facts.
In a January 29 interview with Glamour, Ubah said, “I deeply regret saying, ‘Maybe you slept with someone to get this job,’ and I am truly sorry for that.” She said frustration and her perception that Brynn was pushing the cast to perform contributed to her remark. Ubah also said, “I would’ve said them to anyone if they behaved the way she did.” Those comments explain Ubah’s perspective; they do not settle the disagreement about the private disclosure. How did Jessel Taank describe her role?
Jessel told Bravo she felt she had done the right thing by relaying what Brynn was saying to Ubah, while also recognizing that doing so intensified matters. “You know, there’s a part of me that felt like I did the right thing, but then there’s also a part of me that’s like, ‘F—, I just lit this s— on fire,’” she said. Jessel described wanting to diffuse a conflict that had affected the group throughout the season. That is her explanation of her actions, not a definitive account of what others intended.
What happened at the reunion?
The reunion report described the disagreement continuing: Brynn said she felt unsupported, while Ubah said the friendship would not return to what it had been. Near the end, the pair embraced on camera. The embrace was a televised moment, not proof that the hurt or disagreement had been fully resolved. Read Bravo’s reunion report.
