Julianne Phillips is best known as Francesca “Frankie” Reed on the 1990s television drama Sisters. Her documented acting work runs through 1997, and she has been far less visible in public since. The most recent documented public appearance is a 2014 reunion with Sisters co-stars. The available public record does not establish what she is doing today or give a reliable account of her current personal life.
Her career: from modeling to Sisters
Phillips started out as a model in the early 1980s and then moved into acting. A Wikipedia biography of her lists screen work beginning in the 1980s, though it does not list specific early titles in the material available for this summary. Her most widely recognized role came with Sisters, the NBC family drama that the same biography lists as running from 1991 to 1996. She played Frankie Reed, one of the sisters at the center of the show, and that part is the reason most viewers still connect her name to the series.

Her later screen credits
After Sisters, her recorded screen work continued briefly. The Wikipedia biography places the following credits in the 1996 to 1997 period:
| Title | Format | Date as listed |
|---|---|---|
| Big Bully | Film | 1996–1997 period |
| Colin Fitz Lives! | Film | 1996–1997 period |
| Allie & Me | Film | 1996–1997 period |
| Tidal Wave: No Escape | Television film | 1996–1997 period |
An Apple TV retrospective profile also highlights Sisters, Fletch Lives, and Tidal Wave: No Escape. That profile confirms some of her screen credits but does not give an update on her life after acting. The Wikipedia biography says she stopped acting in 1997.

The 2014 reunion
The most recent public appearance documented in the available sources is a reunion with three Sisters co-stars: Sela Ward, Swoosie Kurtz, and Patricia Kalember. The reunion was arranged for Entertainment Weekly in 2014 and was covered by Today. Phillips’s name is tied to that reunion, but the reporting available here does not describe her own activities or plans from that point forward.
Her marriage to Bruce Springsteen
Phillips was married to Bruce Springsteen from 1985 until their divorce was finalized in 1989. That marriage explains a good deal of the public curiosity about her, but it does not explain her career, and it is not a reliable guide to her later life.
What the public record can and cannot tell you
The public record supports a narrow conclusion. Phillips largely withdrew from public view after her acting work ended in the late 1990s, and the 2014 reunion is the most recent appearance documented in these sources. The record does not establish her current occupation, where she lives, her relationships, her health, or her private choices.
Several points are worth keeping in mind before accepting any claim about her current life:

Rank #3
- The Wikipedia biography is a secondary summary built on older reporting. It was last edited in September 2026, so it may reflect newer edits, but its sources are older articles rather than new interviews.
- The Apple TV profile is a retrospective about entertainment history. It does not include current reporting on her.
- No direct quotation from Phillips about her present life appears in the material available, so any “she says” claim about her current circumstances would be unsupported.
- A lack of recent press coverage does not by itself mean a dramatic change in her life, and it should not be read that way.
How to check for newer reporting
If you want to confirm whether anything has changed since these sources were written, start with a search of recent news archives for her name alongside Sisters and the 2014 reunion. Look for interviews she has given herself, because those carry more weight than reports by third parties. Treat any claim that cannot be traced to a named outlet, with a publication date, as unverified.
Phillips’s public story is essentially a career that peaked on television in the early 1990s, ended in the late 1990s, and has been quiet since, with a notable reunion in 2014. Anything beyond that should be treated with caution.
