There is no reliably verified public answer to which camera Baylen Levine currently uses. A 2018 interview says he bought a camera on eBay when he was starting out, but it does not identify the model. Claims that he uses a Canon EOS R or EOS R5 appear on secondary gear sites, without the first-party evidence needed to confirm them.
That uncertainty does not prevent you from learning what makes his videos feel energetic—or building a practical setup for your own vlogs. Camera identity and camera style are different questions: framing, movement, clear audio, lighting, editing and platform compression all shape the finished video.
What the evidence actually says
The clearest documented clue comes from a 2018 interview with Levine. He said he bought a camera from eBay while starting his YouTube career. The interview does not name the camera, so it does not establish that it was a Canon, DSLR, mirrorless camera or any particular model.
Two secondary gear articles attribute Canon models to him: one says Canon EOS R, and another says Canon EOS R5. Neither supplies a clear first-party confirmation such as a statement from Levine, an official gear list or a dated, identifiable behind-the-scenes source. Treat both as unverified claims, not established facts.

A 2023 fan discussion mentions a camera costing roughly $2,000, but it does not verify a model or ownership. Price recollections and repeated online claims are not substitutes for evidence.
Careful coverage of the question likewise cautions that a specific model cannot be established without direct disclosure or corroborating evidence. A camera visible in a clip, even if correctly identified, might be a second angle, someone else’s camera, an older body or equipment used for a particular shoot. These conclusions reflect the publicly available sources cited here; equipment can change, and a later direct disclosure could update the answer. Levine’s official YouTube channel is a place to look for a first-party gear statement, but no such disclosure is established in the sources cited here.

Why his videos look energetic
A camera body is only one part of the image. The same general look can be made with different systems, especially after editing and upload compression. The factors below are more useful to copy than an unverified model name:

- Lens and distance: A wide or moderately wide view, filmed close to the subject, keeps a walking vlog lively and includes more of the surroundings. Very wide lenses can distort faces at close range.
- Movement and framing: Handheld walking shots, quick reframing and purposeful camera movement create immediacy. A gimbal can smooth motion, but it adds weight and can slow down reactions.
- Autofocus: Face and subject tracking help keep the speaker sharp while the camera operator moves. In a predictable scene, autofocus can still jump to a background object; locking focus or narrowing the focus area can help.
- Exposure and color: Consistent shutter speed, ISO and white balance prevent distracting changes in brightness or color as the scene shifts.
- Audio: Dialogue that is close and intelligible matters greatly in street and public-interaction videos. A distant built-in microphone may capture wind and surrounding noise more clearly than the speaker.
- Lighting: Daylight and well-managed indoor lighting can make modest equipment look strong. A premium camera cannot recover detail that was never captured in very poor light.
- Editing: Pacing, jump cuts, reaction shots, cutaways, captions, music and sound effects shape the viewer’s impression of energy and polish.
- Delivery: YouTube, TikTok and Instagram recompress uploads. An expensive camera does not guarantee a visibly better result after export and platform processing.
In other words, footage that looks consistent with a camera’s capabilities does not identify that camera. Sensor resolution, advertised autofocus or 8K recording specs describe what a body can do—not what a creator actually used.
Build a similar workflow, not an unverified kit
Choose equipment around how you film. These are practical substitutes for common vlog workflows, not claims about Levine’s equipment.

Phone-first: start filming without a camera purchase
If you already own a recent phone, start with it. Add a small grip or tripod and a compatible wireless microphone before spending on a camera body. This lightweight setup is quick to deploy and usually sufficient for daylight clips and short vlogs. Its weak points may emerge in long recordings, poor light, windy locations, heavy cropping, optical zoom, battery life, manual exposure and file storage.

For a compact mirrorless starting point, consider a Sony ZV-E10, the newer Sony ZV-E10 II, or a Canon EOS R50. These are options to evaluate, not a Baylen Levine gear list. Check the exact model’s video features, screen, stabilization, battery setup and lens choices for your needs. Budget for an appropriate wide or standard zoom, memory card, spare battery, grip and microphone—not just the camera body.

Higher-end hybrid: buy only for a real production need
A Sony Alpha 7 IV or Canon EOS R6 Mark II may suit someone who needs more low-light flexibility, depth-of-field control, lens options or professional production features. Full-frame bodies and lenses cost more and can be heavier and more conspicuous. They are often a poor first purchase for casual daylight street vlogging if the budget would leave no room for audio, batteries or storage.
Action-heavy or risky filming
For wet, rough, helmet-mounted or crowded movement, consider an action camera from the GoPro HERO line rather than exposing a costly mirrorless body. Action cameras are compact and durable, but generally offer less low-light flexibility and background separation than larger-sensor cameras.

- Body: Prioritize dependable face/eye autofocus, a screen you can see while self-filming, practical recording duration and batteries, and a body light enough to carry. 4K is useful if you want cropping room, but is not essential to start.
- Lens: Favor a wide or moderately wide option for arm’s-length filming. A kit zoom adapts to changing distance; a fast prime can help in low light but may be too tight indoors or at selfie distance. Stabilization can help, though electronic stabilization may crop the frame and aggressive stabilization can look warped.
- Microphone: A wireless lavalier keeps the main speaker’s voice close. A camera-mounted shotgun mic can serve as a backup, but wind protection matters outdoors. For a high-stakes recording, a backup track or separate recorder may be worthwhile. A visible mic is better than dialogue that cannot be understood.
- Stabilization and handling: Handheld shooting is quick and direct but can be tiring or shaky. A gimbal produces smoother motion at the cost of weight and speed. A cage and top handle improve handling and accessory mounting while adding bulk.
- Storage and editing: 4K gives cropping flexibility but increases storage use, transfer times, battery consumption, editing demands and export time. For many beginners, steady 1080p video with strong sound is a better outcome than poorly managed 4K.
- Total cost: Include the lens, card, spare battery, microphone, wind protection, grip or tripod, storage and any editing or music-licensing costs. Current prices and bundles vary by region and date, so check the manufacturer or vendor before buying.
For audio options, compare the DJI Mic series and RØDE Wireless systems for transmitter count and camera or phone compatibility. A compact RØDE on-camera microphone can provide another capture option. For editing, DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro are among the tools available; compare learning curve, system requirements and licensing before choosing.
A simple field workflow
- Record a wide establishing shot so the viewer understands the place.
- Capture the main event or interaction without letting the camera movement obscure what is happening.
- Get reactions and cutaways that help the edit make sense.
- Keep the microphone close to the speaker and use wind protection outdoors.
- Set exposure and white balance consistently; lock focus or use a smaller focus area if autofocus hunts.
- Edit for pace, but preserve enough context for viewers to understand the interaction.
- Export separate horizontal and vertical versions when publishing to platforms with different framing needs.
Public filming can involve venue rules, privacy expectations, consent questions and local laws, especially when identifiable bystanders or minors appear. Rules vary by place and situation; this is a practical caution, not legal advice.
