Bill Skarsgård plays Count Orlok in Robert Eggers’ 2024 film Nosferatu. The original exclusive image referenced in the headline cannot be verified here, so specific details about what it shows should not be inferred. The film’s official costume-design interview does, however, explain the period and concealment behind Orlok’s look.
Who is Orlok in Nosferatu?
Orlok is the vampire played by Bill Skarsgård in Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu. Focus Features lists Skarsgård in the cast and Eggers as writer and director; the film opened in the United States on December 25, 2024. Focus Features’ official film page.
How did the filmmakers design Orlok?
Costume designer Linda Muir said the team placed Orlok in the late 16th century, in the area that is now Romania. “Since Orlok (Skarsgård) dates to the late 1580s, we wanted to imagine him in his period garb,” she said in a Focus Features interview published December 20, 2024. Muir described Orlok’s body and clothing as appearing to decompose. The costume was also designed to obscure his appearance when Hutter encounters him, especially when fire backlights him. The design drew on portraits of counts from the period and military books showing uniforms.

Muir said Eggers prepared an extensive lookbook for the production team. Her own research included 19th-century household manuals and period-specific fabrics and clothing. Those are documented design references, not a claim that every costume in the film is historically exact.
Can the exclusive image be described?
The specific image and its original publication date are not established by the available official sources. That means it would be misleading to describe its visible details or treat it as a newly released reveal.
