Yes. Zendaya, Adele and Pete Davidson were all named to TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2022. TIME placed Zendaya in its Innovators category and Adele and Davidson in Artists. The list is an editorial selection, not a ranking of the 100 people or a score comparing their influence.
How TIME grouped the three honorees
| Honoree | TIME category | Tribute author |
|---|---|---|
| Zendaya | Innovators | Denis Villeneuve |
| Adele | Artists | James Corden |
| Pete Davidson | Artists | Jack Harlow |
TIME published all three tributes on May 23, 2022. The category labels distinguish how the magazine presented the honorees; they do not indicate a relative position or comparative score. TIME’s 2022 collection contains 100 people.
What the tributes said
Zendaya: a creative force
Director Denis Villeneuve wrote about Zendaya’s work in Malcolm & Marie, Euphoria and Spider-Man: No Way Home, describing her as an autonomous creative force. He called her “A cultural icon in the making.” That is Villeneuve’s assessment in his tribute, not a measured finding. Read Villeneuve’s tribute to Zendaya at TIME.
Adele: songs that make listeners feel understood
James Corden, host of The Late Late Show, focused on Adele’s emotional connection with listeners: “She puts emotions into words, describing them in a way we never could ourselves.” This is Corden’s praise of her songwriting and its effect, rather than an independently measured claim by TIME. What “influential” means on the TIME 100
TIME’s editors describe influence as the list’s barometer and ask, “Who shaped the year? Who stood up? Who stood out?” The selection reflects editorial judgment about people’s impact in 2022, not a published formula or a ranking. The collection and tributes provide no statistic comparing Zendaya’s, Adele’s and Davidson’s influence, so their inclusion does not show that one was more influential than another.
