What the July 2025 funding figures mean
Early figures describe different contributors and kinds of support; they should not be added together or treated as a current funding total.
| Figure | What it referred to | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| More than $30 million raised in the first week | Relief fundraising reported during the first week after the floods. | Texas Public Radio, July 11, 2025 |

| $1.5 million jointly pledged | NFL Foundation, Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans commitment for immediate assistance and long-term recovery; the teams announced $500,000 each. | NFL.com, July 6, 2025 |
The NFL article reproduced a Cowboys statement describing its $500,000 contribution as support for rescue, relief and long-term recovery alongside the Salvation Army’s response. That statement was made by the team, not by a celebrity.

How to help safely and effectively
- Confirm the route: Check the charity’s official site or contact it directly to verify the recipient, purpose and current donation instructions.
- Be cautious of unsolicited requests: The Tribune guide warned readers about scam solicitations. Avoid pressure to send money through unverifiable accounts or payment links.
- Ask before sending goods: A local update cited by the Tribune said food and water donations were not needed in Kerrville at that moment. That was a time-specific notice, not a permanent assessment of needs; check current requests before collecting or shipping supplies.
- Match help to the need: Cash donations, services and volunteer labor serve different purposes. Ask organizations which form of support they can use and where it is needed.
- Check volunteer logistics: Confirm the location, schedule, eligibility and any safety or training requirements before traveling to an affected area.
For ongoing distress, Selena Gomez’s post pointed people to the 988 Lifeline and the Disaster Distress Helpline. For immediate crisis support in the United States, call or text 988. For disaster-related emotional distress, the Disaster Distress Helpline can be reached at 1-800-985-5990 or by texting TalkWithUs to 66746.
