The episode premiered on Netflix on April 25, 2025.
What happens in Episode 1?
Rotten Tomatoes’ synopsis centers the premiere on two reactions to school violence: Si-eun withdraws from others, still affected by what happened to Su-ho, and Jun-tae considers taking a stand against the bullies despite the risks. The synopsis establishes that tension without providing a scene-by-scene account.
The episode begins the Eunjang High chapter of Si-eun’s story. He has transferred there after losing his former friendships through school violence. Netflix’s season overview identifies his new classmates as Park Hu-min, Seo Jun-tae, and Go Hyun-tak.
Where Episode 1 fits in the story
Before Eunjang, Si-eun was expelled from Byuksan after his friend Oh Beom-seok betrayed him. Su-ho was left in a coma after a violent altercation involving bully Jeon Yeong-bin and his cronies, as Netflix Tudum recounts in its season overview. That history helps explain Si-eun’s isolation in the premiere.

The season’s wider conflict includes the Union, a local gang network. Tudum describes Choi Hyo-man as a tough student seeking entry to the Union, which is run by an unassuming student. That is broader season context; it should not be read as a list of events all occurring in Episode 1.

How the live-action series relates to the webtoon
Weak Hero Class 2 continues a live-action adaptation of the completed Weak Hero webtoon by writer Seopass and illustrator Razen. The webtoon’s official WEBTOON page identifies it as an action comic and marks the digital series complete.
The adaptation does not simply follow the comic’s narrative order from the start. In an interview with TIME, director-writer You Su-min said the series first needed to show how Si-eun and his friends became close and then drifted apart to make a complete story. You also described the original webtoon as a straightforward school-action story in which Si-eun appears to clear one stage at a time, like a game. These are comments on the adaptation and season-level structure, not a claim that Episode 1 covers the comic’s whole premise. Read the interview in TIME.
