What happened at Six Flags Over Texas?
The incident involved Roaring Rapids, a raft ride at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that TikTok user Jefferson Drew Alba posted footage on Monday, June 24, 2024. The outlet described a raft that had become stuck and riders jumping into the water.
The video and reports establish that riders entered the water; they do not establish why the raft stopped. No mechanical cause is identified in the reviewed reporting.
Why did riders jump off the raft ride?
The footage shows some riders leaving the raft and entering the water, but it does not by itself explain their decision. Reporting offers differing details about the response: Entertainment Weekly, in a story republished by Yahoo, reported that a Six Flags representative said the raft became stuck and all guests safely exited. Fox News, citing WFAA, reported that a Six Flags spokesperson said guests were told to remain seated while the ride was restarted.

Those accounts do not establish that staff instructed riders to jump. Nor do the sources resolve how the reported instruction to remain seated related to the riders seen in the water. The distinction matters: observed actions in a video are not proof of what staff directed.

Were the riders safe?
Entertainment Weekly reported that a Six Flags representative said all guests safely exited the ride; the representative is not named in the available report. Separately, Fox News, citing WFAA, described a child who entered the water as appearing to struggle and said another rider helped the child. That account does not establish a medical diagnosis or provide a complete medical outcome for everyone involved.
Six Flags’ general evacuation guidance says evacuations can involve stairs or walking surfaces, including steeply inclined routes. That guidance is general accessibility information, not a record of the procedure used during this incident.
