Seth Rogen’s audio cut during a raunchy Ryan Gosling joke at the January 5, 2025, Golden Globes, but contemporaneous reporting did not establish whether it was deliberate censorship or a technical glitch. Rogen and Catherine O’Hara were presenting an award when the interruption occurred.
What happened during the Golden Globes presentation?

Their routine imagined Canadian counterparts to Hollywood awards. O’Hara and Rogen joked that their work was unfamiliar to Hollywood, then invented awards and credits, including “Golden Antlers,” O’Hara as Mama Morissette in a mock Alanis Morissette story, and Rogen as a young Ryan Gosling in an unauthorized biopic called Gosling. The parody escalated to a fictional “Gilded Gretzky” and the adult award called the Beaver, with invented Canadian porn-film titles, as recapped by Exclaim!.
What was the line that got cut?
During the Ryan Gosling biopic joke, the sound abruptly dropped in the live telecast. The Independent reported the missing wording while attributing it to IndieWire: “Yes it was unauthorised. And the Mickey Mouse Club handjob scene was controversial but, we felt, very important to depict.” That is a press-reported quotation, not a verified official transcript.

Earlier in the routine, Exclaim! reproduced O’Hara saying, “Back home, we each have extensive history in award-winning performances. I guess they got stopped at the border.” It also quoted Rogen: “In Canada, we don’t have America’s puritanical roots, so pornographic films are as lauded as non-pornographic films.”
Was Seth Rogen deliberately censored?
That has not been established. The Independent’s January 6, 2025, report on the interruption said it was unclear whether the missing audio resulted from censorship or a technical glitch, and said it had contacted a CBS representative for comment. The available report did not resolve the cause, so it would be inaccurate to state that CBS deliberately censored Rogen.

Where can you watch the presentation?
The official Golden Globes page hosts the Rogen and O’Hara presentation video. Its listing confirms that the clip is available, but does not establish whether its audio matches the live broadcast or includes the cut. The reported wording above comes through press coverage; it should not be treated as proof of what is audible in the official video.
