Viewers spotted what appears to be a rose-colored Google Pixel 8 in the background of PewDiePie’s late-December 2023 Christmas vlog. A report published on January 1, 2024, places the phone on a table at about 20:07; closer inspection around 20:14 was said to make the identification clearer. The sighting does not establish that the phone was a paid placement or an endorsement.
Where to look in the vlog
The report points readers to approximately 20:07, when a phone can be seen on a table, and around 20:14, where its appearance is easier to inspect. If the original upload is still available on PewDiePie’s official YouTube channel, those timestamps are the most useful place to check the claim yourself. The report describes the vlog as a Christmas or holiday upload from late December 2023—not a recent video.
According to that report, viewers identified the device as the standard Google Pixel 8 in Rose, rather than the Pixel 8 Pro. That is a visual identification, not a confirmation from PewDiePie or Google. A phone seen briefly in the background, potentially partly obscured or inside a case, is not enough to establish its exact model with certainty.

The evidence supports a limited conclusion: a phone appears in the vlog, and viewers and the report identified it as a rose Pixel 8. It does not show that PewDiePie owns or regularly uses that model, or that Google arranged the phone’s appearance. The available coverage cites no verified sponsorship disclosure, contract, or statement from either party.

The original report described the appearance as an “unintentional” showcase, but intent is not established by the footage alone. A product appearing naturally in a scene can attract attention without being a deliberate placement. Calling this a paid promotion, official collaboration, or endorsement would go beyond the evidence.
Why a brief background appearance drew notice
PewDiePie’s channel had about 111 million subscribers at the time, according to the January 2024 report. That historical audience figure helps explain why viewers scrutinized a small detail in a holiday video. The report also noted discussion in the Google Pixel subreddit.

The sighting arrived amid positive attention for Google’s 2023 phone lineup. MKBHD named the Pixel 8 his MVP in his 2023 Smartphone Awards, as reported in December 2023. That was an individual editorial award, not an industry-wide certification—and it does not verify anything about the phone in PewDiePie’s vlog.

The most careful description is that viewers spotted what appears to be a rose Google Pixel 8 in the background of PewDiePie’s late-2023 Christmas vlog, around the 20-minute mark. It is an interesting glimpse of how ordinary objects can become a talking point in a creator’s video, but it is not evidence that PewDiePie officially recommends the phone or that Google paid for the appearance.
