The edit places her into imagery associated with both Top Gun: Maverick and the 1986 Top Gun; it is a creator-made video, not an official film or a new studio release.
What the OwlKitty ‘Top Gun’ video is
Coverage published November 18, 2022, describes the clip as “Top Gun with a Cat.” It swaps Lizzy into scenes associated with Tom Cruise’s appearances in the newer film and its 1980s predecessor. The premise is a comic trailer-style mash-up of two eras of Top Gun, rather than a full remake or a standalone feature.

The video appeared on the OwlKitty YouTube profile. A separate item, “Top Gun with a Cat (Behind the Scenes),” offers a look behind the parody.
Who OwlKitty and Lizzy are
OwlKitty is the performance name associated with Lizzy, a real black cat. Videographer Tibo Charroppin is identified as the person behind the project, working with Olivia Boone. Their videos put Lizzy into recognizable movie scenes, using filmed cat footage and compositing to make her appear within the source imagery.

How the movie parodies are made
In a March 15, 2022, interview with NPR/TPR, Charroppin described the basic idea: “I had a green screen and I had a really cute cat and I wanted to combine the two somehow.” He also explained that removing elements from a shot can be harder than adding Lizzy: “The hardest [part] of it, funny enough, is not adding Lizzy – it’s removing the elements I want to remove seamlessly”. Those comments describe his general workflow; they are not specific production notes for the Top Gun spoof.
NPR/TPR reported that the Jurassic Park and Titanic videos each took about two to three months to make. That timing applies to those two videos only; it does not establish how long the Top Gun parody took.

Lizzy’s path into the project
A January 2020 Portland Monthly profile said Charroppin began filming Lizzy in front of a green screen in November 2018. The profile described Lizzy as an adopted shelter cat and connected the creators’ adoption advocacy with Cat Adoption Team. It also mentioned OwlKitty shirts, posters, and postcards. These are historical details, not confirmation of current merchandise availability or fundraising totals.
