Verizon’s current promotion FAQ says the specific “buy an annual subscription, get Netflix on us for 1 year” offer is no longer available, so do not buy a service based only on an old headline. Check your authenticated +play account for any replacement offer before paying.
What the Verizon Netflix promotion actually was
Verizon published legal terms for “Get 12 Months of Netflix Premium with Purchase of Select Subscriptions.” Customers had to purchase an eligible annual subscription through Verizon +play. The qualifying subscription was charged in full up front, and only services displaying the Netflix promotion were eligible. The offer was non-refundable.

In other words, “free Netflix” meant no separate Netflix charge for the promotional period. The annual service purchased through +play still cost money and could have its own renewal terms. This was a +play marketplace promotion, not an automatic benefit of a Verizon wireless plan or every annual subscription.
Verizon’s current +play promotion FAQ says the annual-subscription Netflix-on-us promotion is no longer available. A personalized offer could differ, but the offer must be visibly shown in your signed-in Verizon account or at checkout.

Who qualified when the offer was live?
Eligibility depended on the specific +play subscription Verizon marked as participating. Verizon’s terms do not establish a permanent list of every qualifying service, so buying an arbitrary annual subscription would not have been enough. The offer was limited to subscriptions displaying the promotion and to one Netflix promotion per +play account.
The terms also said the Netflix promotion could not be combined with another promotion, trial, offer or discount. Verizon’s FAQ says customers who used this 12-month offer could not use certain Netflix Premium/AMC+ bundles until the promotional period ended.

How redemption worked
The historical redemption process followed this sequence:
- Purchase the participating annual subscription through Verizon +play.
- Activate that paid subscription through the participating provider’s site or interface.
- Use the Netflix activation instructions Verizon sent by email or another activation message.
- Create a Netflix account or link an existing one.
- Confirm in +play which service is billing Netflix.
Under the specific legal terms, the paid subscription had to be activated within 80 days of purchase. If it was not, Verizon could cancel both the paid subscription and the Netflix promotion. That 80-day rule belongs to these terms; Verizon uses different windows, including 30 days, in language for some related promotions.

The 12-month clock began when the qualifying paid subscription was activated. It did not necessarily begin when Netflix was linked, so delaying Netflix activation could consume part of the promotional period.
Can an existing Netflix subscriber use it?
Yes. The terms allowed an existing Netflix account to be linked, after which Netflix billing moved to Verizon +play. Before linking, identify the exact Netflix account and review its current billing method.

- If Netflix was billed directly, confirm that the account successfully changed to Verizon billing.
- If Apple or another intermediary billed Netflix, that separate subscription might need to be canceled to prevent duplicate charges. Netflix explains provider-billed account linking at its help page.
- Do not complete activation if the wrong Netflix account appears. Contact Verizon or Netflix support before proceeding; an incorrect link may not be immediately reversible.
- Extra Members were not supported when Netflix was subscribed through +play, and Extra Members did not transfer with a migrated account.
What happened after the 12 months?
Netflix was set to continue as a paid Verizon +play subscription at the then-current monthly rate unless canceled. The cited terms listed $22.99 per month for Netflix Premium when the page was crawled; that is a dated figure, not a guaranteed current price. Netflix and Verizon prices can change, so use the amount displayed in your account and checkout.
The terms said cancellation should be completed at least two days before the promotional period expired to avoid continuation under that billing provision. The qualifying annual service could also renew under its own terms. Canceling one did not automatically cancel the other.

Customers could cancel through the +play Manage page. If Netflix was canceled during the free year, access continued through the remainder of the promotional period. The offer itself was non-refundable.
When a previously existing Netflix account moved back from Verizon billing, Netflix could resume charging the payment method already stored on that account. Check Netflix’s account billing page after cancellation rather than assuming every charge has stopped.

Verizon currently lists a separate Netflix & HBO Max (With Ads) perk. Its legal terms are at Verizon’s Movie Lovers Bundle page. This is a recurring bundle, not the expired one-year Netflix Premium promotion, and it includes Netflix Standard with ads by default. An upgrade or different tier can cost extra.

Verizon has advertised the Netflix-and-HBO Max perk from $13 per month, with savings calculated against prices shown at the time. Promotional pricing and comparison prices are volatile; verify the live amount before enrolling.
Checklist before accepting any replacement offer
- Is the promotion displayed inside your signed-in Verizon +play account?
- What service must you buy, and what is the complete upfront charge?
- When does the promotional clock start?
- What exact activation deadline applies to this offer?
- Which company will bill Netflix during and after the promotion?
- What monthly price and renewal date appear after the promotional period?
- Can Netflix and the qualifying service be canceled independently?
- Is the included tier actually Premium, or Standard with ads?
- Will linking affect Apple billing, Extra Members or another existing Netflix arrangement?
Read the final checkout screen and save the confirmation email. If the promotion is absent, do not purchase an annual +play service solely because an older article or social post describes the Netflix deal.
