Trump called Kimmel’s ratings “VERY POOR,” but the reports cited here do not provide a ratings figure or measurement to substantiate that characterization. It should be understood as Trump’s criticism, not an established audience statistic.
The AP said Trump’s reference to “TV Syndicates” meant ABC affiliates. Some affiliates had complained about Kimmel’s comments about Charlie Kirk in September. Kimmel works for ABC’s entertainment division, not ABC News.
How did Kimmel respond?
On his November 20 program, Kimmel read Trump’s post and joked that Trump had watched the show, pointing out that the post appeared eleven minutes after the East Coast broadcast ended. Fox News reported Kimmel’s response: “I’ll go when you go, OK? We’ll be a team. Let’s ride off into the sunset together like Butch Cassidy and the Suntan Kid.”

No. Trump’s post was a demand directed at ABC; it did not itself remove Kimmel. The exchange came after ABC temporarily suspended Kimmel in September 2025 over remarks following Charlie Kirk’s assassination, then reinstated the program. That earlier suspension was separate context, not the cause of Trump’s November post.
