Tires Season 2 is a meaningful improvement over its first run: the jokes feel more assured, the shop’s problems develop into a more continuous story, and Thomas Haden Church gives the series a welcome new source of friction. It remains a loose, frequently vulgar workplace comedy rather than a reinvention—and its expanded 12-episode season sometimes meanders. If Shane Gillis’s juvenile humor is your kind of comedy, though, the extra character work gives the laughs more to build on.
What is Tires Season 2 about?
Will and Shane are still trying to make a success of the family auto-repair business after their marketing idea takes off. Netflix’s synopsis frames the season around their attempts at personal and professional growth; its episode descriptions point to the practical chaos along the way, including an HR initiative, a sales contest, a rumor-fueled promotional push, and a conflict that threatens the shop. The business gives the comedy a workplace to return to, while family tensions complicate the cousins’ partnership. Netflix Tudum’s series and season overview lays out the premise and episode setup.
Is Season 2 better than Season 1?
For viewers who enjoyed the first season’s blunt, unruly comedy but wanted more momentum between episodes, yes. Season 2 is more confident about carrying character and business conflicts forward instead of relying only on one-off shop antics. That Shelf sees a sharper comic and story focus, while Jonathon Wilson’s Ready Steady Cut review finds that the longer run benefits the overarching story and character development even as the show keeps its loose, juvenile style.
The comedy feels more assured
The series does not abandon its vulgar, blue-collar sensibility; it makes that sensibility feel more settled. The comic energy is still built around workplace schemes, bad judgment, and people making ordinary problems worse. The improvement is less a change of format than a stronger sense of how the characters can generate trouble together.

Ongoing stories give the shop more shape
Season 1 established the workplace and the cousin dynamic. Season 2 gives those ingredients more room to develop: Will and Shane’s efforts to keep the business moving sit alongside evolving relationships and recurring conflicts. That added continuity helps the setting feel less like a backdrop for isolated bits and more like a workplace with consequences.
Thomas Haden Church is a strong addition
Church plays Phil, Shane’s wealthy father, a recurring presence who brings a different kind of pressure into the shop’s orbit. His role expands the family dynamic and creates a useful contrast with the cousins’ scrappier, more chaotic approach. Netflix identifies Church among the season’s cast and describes Phil’s connection to Shane in its Tudum coverage.

The longer season is both an advantage and a liability
Ready Steady Cut describes the follow-up as a 12-episode season, twice the size of Season 1. That expanded space supports the ongoing story and character development, but it also leaves more room for stretches that feel loose rather than purposeful. A review reproduced on Filmibee’s automatically aggregated page likewise praises the laughs while criticizing the season’s meandering length. The trade-off is real: more time with the characters, but not uniformly tighter pacing.
What may not work for every viewer?
The show’s immaturity is part of its identity, not an occasional detour. Its humor is often crude and its storytelling deliberately unpolished, so viewers seeking a carefully plotted workplace comedy or a gentler tone may find the looseness wearing. The twelve-episode order can amplify that response: when a joke or subplot does not land, the season’s casual rhythm may make the episode feel longer rather than more substantial.

That is why “vastly improved” needs a qualification. Season 2 improves the experience for people who want more character interplay and a stronger thread through the shop’s misadventures. It does not transform Tires into a different kind of sitcom or smooth away the rough edges that define it.
