Thunderbolts* is already streaming on Disney+. The Marvel movie began streaming on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, after its Disney+ date first surfaced in an apparent Greek television-spot leak and was officially confirmed several days later.
That means the August 8, 2025 report describing August 27 as a likely but unconfirmed date is now historical context—not the film’s current status. Disney’s official movie listing and subsequent Disney and Marvel materials confirmed that the release happened as scheduled.
When did Thunderbolts* arrive on Disney+?
Thunderbolts* arrived on Disney+ in the United States on August 27, 2025. The date was initially reported after a fan shared an apparent Greek Disney+ TV spot on August 8. At that point, Disney had not issued a formal confirmation, so describing the date as a report or leak was appropriate.

The team is not simply a conventional superhero squad. Its members have conflicting loyalties, histories, and motivations, which gives the film its unusual ensemble dynamic. The movie is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but its premise comes from a much older Marvel Comics idea.
The Thunderbolts in Marvel Comics
In the comics, the Thunderbolts have never been defined by one permanent roster. The concept began with a deceptive group of villains posing as heroes, then expanded to include reformed villains, antiheroes, and government-sanctioned teams. Different comic runs have therefore used the name for groups with very different missions and personalities.
The film’s team is one screen adaptation of that flexible concept rather than a direct recreation of every comic-book roster. Readers interested in the source material can explore Thunderbolts comics and collected editions, including the different series that document how the team’s membership and purpose have changed over time.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the original report was cautious
The early report was based on a regional promotional spot rather than a formal U.S. Disney announcement. A Greek TV spot showing August 27 was a meaningful clue, but it did not by itself establish that every market would receive the film on that date. The report therefore correctly treated the date as likely rather than confirmed at the time.
