Thodi Si Bewafaii (1980) brings Gulzar’s lyrics together with Khayyam’s music in a soundtrack that remains one of the film’s most memorable features. The pairing is a documented credit on this Hindi family drama—not proof that this was the only time the two worked together. Its songs range from the duet “Hazaar Rahen Mud Ke Dekhin” to Bhupinder Singh’s “Aaj Bichhde Hain.”
What is Thodi Si Bewafaii about?
Directed and written by Esmayeel Shroff, Thodi Si Bewafaii is a 1980 Hindi drama. Cinemaazi’s archival record gives it a runtime of 150 minutes and describes a marriage strained by a perceived betrayal. Neema, played by Shabana Azmi, seeks separation from her husband Arun, played by Rajesh Khanna. Though they live apart, both still love one another; the story turns on whether they can recognize the small betrayal behind their conflict.
The film also features Sushant Ray as Nandu/Abhinandan and Padmini Kolhapure as Meenu. Cinemaazi’s synopsis is attributed to the film’s official press booklet, and its record lists a U censor rating and certificate date of 29 April 1980. A separate Bollywood Hungama listing gives 13 June 1980 as the release date, but the available records do not establish how that date relates to the certificate date, so the theatrical date remains unresolved.
Who composed the music of Thodi Si Bewafai?
Khayyam was the film’s music director, and Gulzar wrote its lyrics, according to Cinemaazi’s film credits. The same record names Anil Mohile and Jagjit Kaur as assistant music directors and HMV as the music company. Moviebuff separately identifies Saregama India Limited as the soundtrack label. Those are distinct catalog attributions, not necessarily conflicting claims about a single label or role.

The credits establish the collaboration on this film; they do not establish that it was the pair’s only collaboration. Nor do the available records document a general account of how Gulzar and Khayyam worked together on the songs.
Thodi Si Bewafai songs: a listening guide
Moviebuff’s catalog lists these songs and performers. It includes alternate versions of two tracks, so it is more useful to identify the songs and versions than to claim a definitive total track count.
| Song | Listed performer(s) and version |
|---|---|
| “Hazaar Rahen Mud Ke Dekhin” | Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar; the listing also includes a Kishore Kumar solo version |
| “Aankhon Men Humne Aapke Sapne” | Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar; the listing also includes a Kishore Kumar solo version |
| “Aaj Bichhde Hain” | Bhupinder Singh |
| “Mausam Mausam Lovely Mausam” | Anwar and Sulakshana Pandit |
| “Barse Phuhar” | Asha Bhosle |
| “Suno Na Bhabhi” | Sulakshana Pandit |
“Hazaar Rahen Mud Ke Dekhin” is the best-known focal point in the available account of the collaboration, but the other tracks show the soundtrack’s broader range of singers. A 22 August 2019 Navhind Times feature reports that, during a recording of the song, Kishore Kumar wanted to sing without interludes while Khayyam preferred to include them. This is a secondary report, not a verified direct quotation or a complete account of the recording session.

Bombay Music lists a DVD edition and says it includes English subtitles. That listing alone does not confirm current stock, the condition of a particular copy, shipping terms, or region compatibility. Check those details with the seller before ordering; the listing is not evidence that the DVD is currently available through Amazon or that it will play on every DVD player.
