What happened to Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner?
Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner’s marriage ended after roughly three months. They met on ABC’s first season of The Golden Bachelor, where Turner proposed to Nist during the November 30, 2023 finale. Their relationship then moved quickly from a reality-TV engagement to a nationally televised wedding.

In an April 29, 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Nist described the romance as a “whirlwind.” Her explanation was not that the relationship had been fake or that her feelings had disappeared. What about Gerry Turner’s cancer diagnosis?
Turner disclosed in December 2024 that he had Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, a rare blood cancer. Nist told Us Weekly in April 2025 that his illness played no role whatsoever in her decision to divorce.
This point should be treated as Nist’s stated position, not as an independently settled explanation of every factor in the breakup. The available reporting contains differing later framing, but there is no basis for presenting Turner’s diagnosis as the cause of the divorce.

Is Theresa Nist dating someone new?
Nist confirmed on the June 5, 2025 episode of the Almost Famous podcast that she wanted to be in a relationship and had gone on “several” dates with one man. She said she met him through a dating website but chose not to identify him.
She also avoided calling him her boyfriend. That was still her position in a July 31, 2025 update with Us Weekly from Lake Tahoe. Nist said she was still talking to the same man, but nothing had been solidified and she wanted to keep her options open rather than rush into a label.

In coverage of that interview, Nist disputed several parts of Turner’s recollection. Among other things, she challenged his account of sleeping on her couch and his description of their physical intimacy, saying that some events did not happen or happened differently from the way Turner presented them.

Those allegations should be understood as a dispute between two former spouses. Turner’s memoir provides his account; Nist’s podcast appearance provides her rebuttal.
