‘The Watchers’ is a 2024 Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema film written and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan and based on A.M. Shine’s novel. Dakota Fanning stars as Mina, a stranded artist who ends up trapped in an Irish forest with three strangers. The film was released theatrically in June 2024, and Warner Bros. Discovery announced a streaming debut on Max later that summer. Its theatrical run is over, so the questions that remain are about where to watch it now, and those answers change over time.

The Associated Press, in its coverage of the film, describes it as a psychological horror fantasy based on Shine’s novel, centered on Mina’s experience of being trapped with strangers in an Irish forest. AP’s description is a critic-style characterization rather than a formal studio genre classification, so it is best read as how one outlet framed the film. The AP article on Fanning and the film includes interview material with the cast and filmmakers.
