Television’s effort to find another home had failed by April 11, 2025. The existing three-season series is streaming on Netflix, according to Netflix Tudum’s September 1, 2026 update—but that catalog move is not a revival.
Was The Sex Lives of College Girls canceled?
Yes. Max decided not to order a fourth season after the show’s third season concluded in January 2025. On March 18, co-creator Justin Noble confirmed the decision to TheWrap: “Unfortunately, Max has decided not to order a fourth season.” Warner Bros. Television then explored finding the series another home. By April 11, that effort had failed. Warner Bros. TV Group chairman Channing Dungey told TVLine, “I’m so proud of the three seasons that we did at Max, but I don’t think there’s going to be more of College Girls.”

That is the last reported status of the continuation effort in the available coverage. No fourth-season order or later revival announcement is established. The exact date of the season-three finale is inconsistent across reports, so it is more accurate to say it concluded in January 2025 than to give a specific day.
Where can you watch the series now?
Netflix Tudum reported on September 1, 2026, that all three existing seasons were streaming on Netflix. That means viewers can watch the series there; it does not mean Netflix picked it up for new episodes. Netflix’s announcement concerns the existing catalog, not a season-four order.

Why was the show canceled?
Max has not provided a confirmed public explanation for its decision in the cited coverage. It would be inaccurate to claim that ratings caused the cancellation: Max does not typically release viewership figures for its original shows, according to Variety.
There is some context, but it does not establish the reason. Noble said he was surprised by the decision and described the series as appearing among Max’s most-watched or second-most-watched scripted shows for about 70 consecutive days. That is his account, reported by TVLine, rather than a viewing statistic independently published by Max.
Rank #2
Variety reported Rotten Tomatoes critics’ approval scores of 97% for season one, 93% for season two, and 29% for season three, with the third-season score based on seven reviews. Those are dated critic-score snapshots, not audience ratings or evidence of Max’s rationale.
What is the series about?
Created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, the three-season comedy-drama follows students at the fictional Essex College in New England. Its original four roommates—Kimberly Finkle, Bela Malhotra, Whitney Chase, and Leighton Murray—navigate college life, relationships, sex, and self-discovery. They are played by Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Alyah Chanelle Scott, and Reneé Rapp. Variety reports that Rapp was a series regular in the first two seasons and recurred in the third; season three also included Gracie Lawrence and Mia Rodgers.

Did the show get a planned series finale?
Not in the sense of a finale written to close every story. TVLine reported that Noble chose a celebratory ending while leaving character stories open to possible future directions. Those possibilities were not confirmed season-four plans, and the failed search for another home means viewers should not expect the unresolved threads to continue in new episodes.
