The Rock’s message to Cody Rhodes was an offer: be his champion, and give him your soul. Rhodes rejected it at Elimination Chamber 2025; WWE’s official results say John Cena attacked him immediately afterward. The exchange was part of a 2025 WWE storyline, not a current development.
What The Rock told Cody Rhodes
In a SmackDown segment published by WWE on Feb. 21, 2025, The Rock addressed Rhodes, then the Undisputed WWE Champion, with a proposed alliance. WWE titled the video “The Rock to Cody Rhodes: ‘I want you to be my Champion’”. Its description summarizes the offer as asking Rhodes to be his champion and give him his soul at Elimination Chamber.
“Give me your soul” was dramatic storyline language attached to the offer, not a literal demand. The description summarizes the pitch; it should not be treated as a verified verbatim sentence spoken in the segment.
Did Cody Rhodes accept the offer?
No. At Elimination Chamber 2025, Rhodes emphatically declined The Rock’s offer, according to WWE’s official event results.

What happened after Rhodes said no?
WWE’s results say John Cena attacked Rhodes immediately after the rejection. Cena had won the men’s Elimination Chamber match, earning the right to challenge Rhodes at WrestleMania. That sequence made the offer and refusal a turning point in the event’s storyline: the proposed alliance was rejected, and Cena’s attack followed.
