The R-rated The Little Mermaid is a 2024 horror film directed by Leigh Scott—not Disney’s story of Ariel. Its mermaid is Aurora Bey, played by Lydia Helen, and its synopsis follows an archaeologist whose discovery in the Caribbean leads him toward a dangerous underwater world.
Is this the Disney Little Mermaid?
No. Leigh Scott’s The Little Mermaid is a separate horror feature framed as a twist on Hans Christian Andersen’s tale. The mermaid is Aurora Bey, played by Lydia Helen; the human lead, archaeologist Dr. Eric Prince, is played by Mike Markoff. The film listing credits Scott as director and writer. What is the horror film about?
According to the Apple TV synopsis, archaeologist Dr. Eric Prince and his students uncover an ancient pagan temple in the Caribbean. Eric falls for a mysterious woman who resembles a mermaid he encountered at sea. As their relationship deepens, she draws him into an evil underwater world, where he faces a choice between love and humanity’s destruction. Apple TV’s synopsis

- Animated screen version of Hans Christian Andersen's story of a mermaid named Ariel, who falls in love with an earthly prince.
That premise supports calling Aurora dangerous or sinister, but the available synopsis does not establish a specific murder or provide a scene-by-scene account of the trailer. “Ariel becomes murderous” is headline framing, not an accurate identification of the character.
