The Night Manager Series 3 is confirmed and in development, with writer David Farr working on the story. There is no confirmed premiere date, filming start or Series 3 cast list. A 2028 release has been floated as a media estimate, not announced as a schedule.
Is The Night Manager Series 3 confirmed?
Yes. TechRadar reports that the BBC and Amazon announced Series 2 and Series 3 together in April 2024. Tom Hiddleston has also described a third instalment as in development and part of a planned two-volume, 12-episode story, according to Country & Town House. The original commissioning notice is not among the reviewed sources, but the reports agree that the third series is proceeding.

David Farr, who wrote the original series and the continuation, said in February 2026 that the team was writing and wanted to finish this story. He also said, “There’s definitely a sense of urgency this time. We’re not going to wait 10 years.” That signals an intention to move faster than the long gap between the first two series; it does not set a release date. TechRadar quotes Farr describing the project as being in the writing process.
When could Series 3 be released?
No official premiere date has been reported. TechRadar estimates 2028, but that is the outlet’s prediction, not a BBC or Prime Video commitment. At the time of Country & Town House’s report, writing was ongoing and filming had not begun. Without a confirmed filming schedule or launch announcement, a more precise date would be speculation.

For context, The Guardian reported that Series 2 was due on BBC One on New Year’s Day and on Prime Video on 11 January 2026. Those were Series 2 dates, not evidence of when Series 3 will arrive or how it will be distributed in every country. The Guardian’s report is dated December 2025; check local listings and streaming availability when Series 3 scheduling is announced.
Who is expected to return?
No Series 3 cast list is confirmed in the reporting reviewed. Hiddleston’s return as Jonathan Pine is a strong expectation because Pine is the central character, but it has not been announced as casting. Hugh Laurie and other familiar actors are likewise discussed as possibilities rather than confirmed participants.
Farr has expressed interest in continuing the stories of younger Danny, played by Noah Jupe, and Sally, played by Hayley Squires. He has also said of Mayra Cavendish, “But I think there’s much more to come from her.” These comments indicate creative interest, not casting news or a guarantee that any character will appear. Angela Burr, played by Olivia Colman, is reported to have died in Series 2; a flashback is possible in principle but has not been confirmed. The distinction between likely returns and announced cast members is also made in the coverage from Country & Town House and TechRadar.
What might the story be about?
Series 2 appears to leave Pine with unresolved business connected to Richard Roper and a broader scheme hinted at by a voicemail from Angela Burr. Farr’s comments about Cavendish suggest the character’s motives may receive more attention. Those details offer a likely starting point for the next chapter, but no official Series 3 synopsis has been published in the reports cited here. A wider conspiracy or a final confrontation should not be treated as confirmed plot.

The first series adapted John le Carré’s 1993 novel, while the later continuation is original story material. The Guardian notes that Series 2 also takes the story to Colombia. The novel is useful background for the original adaptation, not a guide to Series 3’s plot. The Guardian’s interview and context discusses the novel and the continuation.
