Rotten Tomatoes’ June 2024 reader poll ranked Inside Out 2 first among five films people said they were most looking forward to that month. The list also included A Quiet Place: Day One, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Kinds of Kindness and Hit Man. It was an audience poll—not a critics’ ranking, box-office forecast or definitive measure of the month’s releases.
Rotten Tomatoes’ five most anticipated films
Rotten Tomatoes asked readers to vote for the movie they were most looking forward to in June and published this order. The ranking establishes the poll positions, but the cited passage does not give a vote count or percentage. Inside Out 2 — June 14
The Pixar sequel took first place by what Rotten Tomatoes described as a significant margin, without publishing a vote total in the cited passage. A now-teenaged Riley encounters new emotions. The voice cast includes Amy Poehler, Maya Hawke, Ayo Edebiri, Adèle Exarchopoulos and Paul Walter Hauser.

A Quiet Place: Day One — June 28
Michael Sarnoski directs this prequel about the early invasion by the franchise’s sound-sensitive creatures. It follows Sam, played by Lupita Nyong’o, in New York City.

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return as Miami detectives Mike and Marcus. After their former captain’s death, they investigate corruption in the police department.

Kinds of Kindness — June 21
Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone reunite for three loosely connected stories. Jesse Plemons, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley are among the cast members who play different characters across the segments.

Hit Man — June 7, Netflix premiere
Richard Linklater’s romantic crime comedy stars Glen Powell and Adria Arjona. Based on a 2001 Texas Monthly article, it follows a New Orleans police officer who poses as a hitman. Rotten Tomatoes notes that the film had a theatrical debut in late May before its June Netflix premiere.
What the poll list leaves out
The five titles are a snapshot of reader anticipation, not a complete June release calendar. The Associated Press’s U.S.-oriented calendar included studio releases, specialty and independent films, documentaries, streaming premieres and anniversary re-releases. Its entries included The Watchers and Bad Boys: Ride or Die on June 7; Inside Out 2, Tuesday, Treasure and Netflix’s Ultraman: Rising on June 14; and The Bikeriders, Thelma, Janet Planet, Kinds of Kindness and documentaries on June 21. June 28 brought A Quiet Place: Day One, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, Daddio and streaming releases. How the five films differ
The poll brought together films with different formats, audiences and levels of franchise familiarity. These comparisons are drawn from the calendar and film descriptions, not from a separate AP ranking.
- Theatrical listings and streaming: Four of the five poll entries were listed with theatrical release dates. Hit Man was listed for a June Netflix premiere after its late-May theatrical debut.
- Franchise return and new stories: Inside Out 2, A Quiet Place: Day One and Bad Boys: Ride or Die build on existing film franchises. Kinds of Kindness is a three-part collaboration from Lanthimos and Stone; Hit Man is a crime comedy based on a magazine article.
- Different tones and audiences: The list ranges from animated family entertainment to a sound-driven horror prequel, an action-comedy sequel, a segmented drama and a romantic crime comedy. The poll’s order says which titles received the most anticipation in that poll; it does not say which one is best for any particular viewer.
A documentary connection: the book behind The Bikeriders
Though it was not among the five poll selections, The Bikeriders is a notable June release for documentary-minded readers. The Associated Press reported that Jeff Nichols’s film was inspired by Danny Lyon’s 1967 photo-book about the Outlaws Motorcycle Club. “Inspired by” is the supported description; it should not be mistaken for confirmation that the film is a direct adaptation. NBCUniversal’s June 20 slate identified it as a Focus Features film scheduled for June 21 and described Kathy’s attraction to Benny, a member of a Midwestern motorcycle club led by Johnny, as the club shifts toward violence.
