The date follows an earlier confirmation that the series had entered production. Netflix said in December 2025 that filming had begun, although a firm premiere date had not yet been announced at that point. The season was also included in Netflix’s 2026 returning-series slate in the company’s 2025 shareholder letter.
Netflix has since released a first-look update featuring the returning leads and several of the new cast members. The season has not premiered yet as of August 11, 2026, the date reflected in the available research.
What will Season 2 be about?
Season 2 begins approximately one year after Eddie and Susie joined forces to operate within Bobby Glass’s criminal empire overseas. Their partnership is now larger and more ambitious, but it is also exposed to greater risks.
The official premise centers on a succession problem. Bobby’s decisions are becoming increasingly unsound, leaving Eddie and Susie to decide whether they should intervene or allow the empire to collapse around them. Guy Ritchie has described the new season as a geographic and thematic expansion from the English countryside to the Italian lakes. That setting does not mean Netflix has disclosed a complete plot or identified every faction Eddie and Susie will encounter. It does, however, signal that the story will no longer be confined to the estate-centered criminal ecosystem established in Season 1.

That tension creates an obvious source of conflict for the new season: Eddie brings an aristocratic background, military discipline, and a desire to impose order, while Susie is deeply connected to the criminal operation and to her father’s legacy. Their closeness should not be described as a confirmed romance. Official comments establish emotional complexity and distrust, not a definitive romantic relationship.

Creators and production team
The Gentlemen was created by Guy Ritchie and is inspired by his 2019 film of the same name. The Netflix series is not a direct retelling of the film: it follows its own characters, including Eddie, Susie, Freddy, and Bobby, within a serialized television storyline.
For Season 2, Ritchie returns as a writer, executive producer, and director. Matthew Read co-writes the series, while Eran Creevy also directs.
The production companies are Moonage Pictures, part of ITV Studios, and Miramax Television for Netflix. Executive producers are Guy Ritchie, Will Gould, Matthew Read, Frith Tiplady, Simon Crawford Collins, and Ivan Atkinson. Laura Jackson and Max Keene serve as producers.
How Season 1 sets up the sequel
Season 1 begins when Eddie inherits the Duke of Halstead title and the family estate. What initially appears to be an aristocratic inheritance problem becomes a criminal one: the estate contains an illegal cannabis-growing operation controlled by Susie Glass and her father, Bobby.
Eddie’s response gradually changes him from a reluctant aristocrat trying to protect his family property into a participant in the criminal economy surrounding it. Susie, meanwhile, is trying to manage the business and her father’s influence while dealing with Eddie’s unexpected involvement.
By the end of the season, Eddie and Susie become co-owners of the wider enterprise. Bobby decides to retire and asks them to make the necessary arrangements. That ending provides the direct foundation for Season 2: Eddie and Susie are no longer temporary collaborators negotiating over an estate, but partners responsible for a much larger and increasingly unstable operation.
