Marvel’s final trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps puts the team’s family bond at the center of a story that still promises superhero action. Set in a 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic world, the film follows Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm as they confront Galactus and his Herald, Silver Surfer. The film opened in theaters on July 25, 2025.
What the final trailer emphasizes
In a June 25, 2025 report, Ars Technica’s Jennifer Ouellette described Marvel’s last trailer before the film’s theatrical release as shifting attention toward the team’s family relationships while retaining action. Its central idea is expressed in the line: “Family is about connecting to something bigger than yourself. We’ll face it together. As a family.” The report does not identify the speaker, so the line should not be attributed to a particular character or actor.
The trailer’s family focus fits the film’s premise: the four heroes must face an immense threat while holding on to their bond as a family. Ars Technica’s trailer report describes the balance between that relationship and the superhero conflict.
The team and its opponents
The Fantastic Four are Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic; Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman; Johnny Storm, the Human Torch; and Ben Grimm, the Thing. In the cast reported by Ars Technica, Pedro Pascal plays Reed, Vanessa Kirby plays Sue, Joseph Quinn plays Johnny, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays Ben. Ralph Ineson is identified as Galactus, and Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer.
