No confirmed departure is established by the headline’s source or the official CBS materials cited here. The speculation is about Timothy McGee, played by Sean Murray, and comes from a plot detail in season 23 episode 2—not an announcement that he is leaving NCIS.
Why are people asking if McGee is leaving NCIS?
A story republished by Head Topics with a Collider credit on October 24, 2025, interprets McGee’s MooseNet project as a possible sign that he could eventually pursue a life beyond the badge. Its language is conditional: the theory depends on whether the project is a preview of what is to come and whether that possibility plays out during the season. That is speculation about the story, not confirmation of an exit. Read the republished article.

What is MooseNet, and where does it enter the story?
The proposed clue is MooseNet, McGee’s personal project in “Prodigal Son, Part 2,” the second episode of season 23. The Head Topics republication describes it as a self-sustaining communications network powered by solar energy and satellite internet, and says a patent is pending. Those details are reported in that article; CBS’s episode synopsis does not independently confirm them. The episode’s official synopsis instead centers on Parker’s pursuit of vengeance and his sister’s choice. CBS lists the episode as airing October 21, 2025.
What do CBS’s official listings say about McGee?
CBS’s series description identifies Timothy McGee as a senior agent on Alden Parker’s team. That listing is consistent with McGee remaining part of the team, but a cast description by itself cannot rule out a future departure or later announcement. See CBS’s NCIS series listing.
