What Netflix has confirmed about Season 2
Netflix’s September 24, 2026 renewal announcement says The Beast in Me will return. It confirms Danes’s return as Aggie Wiggs and names Gordon and Pearle as co-showrunners. Gordon also described the team’s decision to continue as dependent on finding a story worthy of the first season.
The announcement provides no Season 2 release date. Netflix calls the season forthcoming and says to stay tuned for more details; it does not give a premiere window or production schedule.
Why the renewal may feel unexpected after the finale
Season 1 is an eight-episode thriller about grieving author Aggie Wiggs and her neighbor Nile Jarvis, a real estate mogul suspected in his wife’s disappearance. All eight episodes premiered on November 13, 2025, according to Netflix’s Media Center series page.

The finale closes the central Aggie–Nile relationship: Aggie publishes her book after a final interview with Nile, who is later stabbed to death in prison. Netflix’s finale explainer recounts those events. Aggie’s story can continue without reopening that relationship, but Netflix has not said what Season 2 will be about.
Who is confirmed to return?
Claire Danes is the only returning performer confirmed in Netflix’s renewal announcement. Howard Gordon and Daniel Pearle are confirmed as co-showrunners. Matthew Rhys, who played Nile Jarvis, has not been confirmed for Season 2; his character dies in the first-season finale.
